OK Ladies and Gentleman,  you will not believe this car!!  Original EVERYTHING!!!  I bought this car from the original owner.  He bought it in 81 and drove it until 1988.  He had kids and bought a suburban.  He parked this car IN HIS GARAGE IN PHOENIX FOR 25 YEARS!!!!!!!!  He said he never meant to do it but a few months after he parked it the battery when dead, then after a while a tire when flat, then another, then another ... He said he always wanted to get it going again but it just never happened..  You know how it goes...  Anyway, when I picked it up I had to put on all four new tires before I could even roll it out of his garage because the tires that were on it were so dry rotted and flat, if you tried to air them up the air would just come out of the sidewalls!!

Whats nice is he didnt like the original "turbo " rims so he took them off when it was new and put on some crappy aftermarket ones.  But he kept the originals all those years!!!  So they are perfect! No dings or curb rash at all!

This is a Matching numbers 4-speed low miles unrestored car.  After I bought it in Phoenix I brought it home to New Mexico.  He said it was the first time the car had ever left Arizona!

I dropped the fuel tank and flushed it, flushed the fuel lines, then ended up changing the fuel pump because it wouldn't pump, changed the oil and put in a new battery ( the one in it was from Montgomery ward!)  and the dang car started up and purrs like a kitten!!!!!  Has all the original exhaust so it sounds exactly like it did in 81!  PERFECT!!! The oil pressure is perfect and it doesn't overheat!  The 4 speed tranny shifts perfect and the clutch and stuff is perfect.

-It has a " check engine" light that comes on when you start it then goes off as it should.  The "choke" light comes on then goes off like it should!

- All the shifter linkage is in working order, you even have to have it in reverse to remove the key!

- The doors dont sag at all!  They open and close perfectly!

- All the gauges work perfect except the tach, it stays up around 6k rpm for some reason. Probably a ground issue.  I thought I saw it move once but not sure, but an easy fix..

- Original radio and the dash is perfect.  All the knobs and buttons work as they should and are tight.  The tilt steering works perfect and feels new.  Not sloppy like most old cars.

- I think I am the first to even work on this car!  EVERY NUT AND BOLT IS ORIGINAL!!  Except the fuel pump and heater core.  The heater core started leaking so I replaced it (what a pain in the butt!!)

-When I dropped the tank I found the build sheet.  I didnt think you could order "turbo rims" on a non-turbo car but there it is on the build sheet!!!

- The chevy 5.0 runs perfect, no problems at all and it doesn't even leak.

- 4 wheel disc brakes work perfect!

- Radio works but the power antenna doesnt come up

- Interior is all original and in good shape, not great shape but definitely good.  The passenger seat wasnt torn until I changed the heater core.  Just leaning on it the old material gave way but the foam is perfect.

-NOT ONLY WAS THIS CAR IN PHOENIX ITS WHOLE LIFE, IT WAS IN A GARAGE IN PHOENIX!!!  ZERO RUST!!  ZERO ZERO!!!!

- Only two dings on the car both toward the back. Probably from a bicycle or something falling on it in the garage.

-Back bumper cover is torn. He said his wife back into a pole gently.  No damage except the cover, you can get a new one for $300.  Every body panel is original and rust free!

-  The paint is ok..  looks like something was spilled or splashed on the front that made some of the paint flake off.  Its a shame because if it wasnt for that you could probably buff it out and I bet it would shine right up!

- Brand new tires..  less than 100 miles on them

- I charged the A/C and it worked!!!!!  But...  the all the freon leaked out around the compressor seal and stopped working so it needs a new compressor.  But it was cold for a little while and it shows that the system is good!

- T TOPS

- All the weatherstripping is still good and soft .

Electric windows wo

- The title is still in the original owners name.  I left it that way so it is technically still a one owner car, but I will put it in my name if your concerned about it.

I bought this car because I always wanted the Chevy/4-speed combo in a trans am.  But I wanted to put in a supercharged small block 400.  But this car is WAY to nice and original to do that to.  Unless it doesnt sell then I might....

THIS CAR IS SOOO COOL TO DRIVE AROUND AND IT STILL HAS THAT HOT ROD SMELL!!

Please call me with any questions, Herman @505-264-3276

Might trade for a nice toyhauler but thats about it.

YIKES!   I didn't put in the V I N number so Ebay cancelled my auction.. Sorry for any problems... But we are ok now!

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
