This is truly a rare find. 1981 Pontiac Trans Am 4 speed manual trans, Chevy 5.0 liter engine, original owner, 9875
original MILES total . All completely factory and investment grade car. Car has been stored in barn since 2009.This
car is so original it has its original: tires, belts, hoses, paint, shocks (in separate box), head lights ( in box-
replaced for halogen but still have original headlamps WITH their position in the front grill marked on light).
Some people start “counting” miles from rebuild or repaint - this had neither- it is all factory origninal .
Car runs beautifully , no rust, no leaks. Build sheet is still in original location, never removed,

The GOOD- THis is a 1 owner car, and owner will be available to talk to serious buyers. No car this old has been
this well maintained including the maintaining of all documentation. Original paint , original….well..everything.
Nothing was repainted, repaired (Except below), or replaced…ever.

The ‘bad”- this is what isn’t factory 1. Has newer battery 2.car was recalled for catalytic converters. 3.has
crack in front header panel- was going to fix, but decided to leave that decision to new owner. See picture. 3.
Radio is not factory- but is dealer installed to include all paperwork. 4. Body has a few very small dents that are
so small that they couldn’t be photographed, but they are there. 5. rear lovers are dealer installed But not
factory, the key for the lovers will be sold with the car. 6. Headliner glue gave out, repaired. 6. paint on roof
does have minor mark from years of cover being on car- may buff out- see picture. 7. Tires are original and still
on car, probably NOT roadworthy due to the fact they are over 40 years old. 8. Car was given oil change with
synthetic (non factory) engine oil. 8. Hood scoop has been converted to ram air by dealership.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
