Very original 1980 Trans Am Indy Pace car with 23,840 miles, equipped with all the options.  This car is in beautiful un-restored condition and shows very little wear inside and out.

I have had a little work done on the car to rebuild the carburetor and address a few minor cosmetic issues, such as replacing the front bumper cover inlet grilles.

Finish: The paint appears to be original and still shines.  There are some areas of road rash behind the wheel arches as expected.  There are also very small paint chips and light scratches in other areas.  There is no rust anywhere on the car. I believe that the front bumper cover has been repainted, probably because the paint on these flexible plastic pieces often develops spider cracks. The air dam under the front bumper also has some road rash.  Some of the original stickers are showing signs of yellowing with age and are scratched, but are intact and have not faded. The pin-striping is in good condition.

Glass:  All glass is in excellent condition, including the T-Top panels. The car comes with the original T-Top panel storage bags.

Interior:  The interior is in very good condition, including all of the vinyl and cloth surfaces.  Most of the hard plastic trim pieces are in very good condition with the exception of the back seat arm rest trim panels that have some pitting and discoloration.  The carpet is in very good condition, as are the dash pads and door panels.

Engine: The engine starts easily and runs well.  The turbo reaches full boost according to the hood lights.  The carburetor does need to warm up on cold days before the car will run smoothly.  The oil pressure never drops below 40 psi. The cooling system does not leak and the hoses are in good condition.  The starter and alternator work properly.

Transmission: The transmission shifts smoothly and does not make any noise. No slipping is evident.

Brakes: The braking system is in good working order and the disc rotors are not visibly grooved or damaged.

Wheels and Tires: The original "turbine" style wheels and center caps are in very good condition.  The vintage style Firestone Indy tires are in very good condition.

Exhaust:  The exhaust system appears to be in good condition with no perforations evident.

Electrical: All electrical systems, lights, gauges, sensors, switches work perfectly.  The power windows and door locks work properly as well as the remote trunk release and rear window defroster. The original radio works. I don't know about the condition of the cassette player in the radio.

Air Conditioning: The A/C compressor turns on and the air blows cool on a hot day, but not ice cold. The system probably needs to be recharged with refrigerant.

Original Options: According to the Build Sheet, the car was optioned out with the following; body side moldings, cruise control, remote deck lid release, electric rear window defroster, door edge guards, extra acoustical insulation, lamp group, visor vanity mirror, power door locks, tilt steering wheel, and controlled cycle windshield wipers.

Accessories: The original space save spare and inflation cylinder, bumper jack and T-Top panel storage bags are included.

Documentation: Original Owner's Manual, Warranty Manual, Stereo Radio Manual, and a copy of the original Build Sheet are included.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
