Up For Auction is a 1980 Pontiac Trans-Am, This Car is the rare (x) Vin, i was told this means that it was sold as the indy car version? im unsure if this is true or not, this car came  Factory with a 4.9 Turbocharged motor which it has the colored white turbo wheels and turbo hood, but was changed over to a SBC in its later years, has a B&M Quiksilver ratchet shifter, and currently has no motor or transmission, there is no frame rot whatsoever, and only has rot in the rear quarters, floors and trunk look decent, this car had a cheap motor and trans and was driven up till 7 months ago. if you are looking for something to throw a motor and trans in and drive around this car is it! it needs very minor work to be road worthy again, and is a very rare car and deserves restoration, could be used as a race car as well but your choice! this car is AS-IS NO WARRENTIES AND I WILL NOT SHIP! MUST COME PICK THE VEHICLE UP  MILEAGE IS WHAT IS ON THE DASH UNKNOWN IF IT IS 120, 220, 320, i do not know how many times the dash has flipped. will try to answer some other questions, has stock hood, has stock t tops, they are chrome trimmed (rare) has traction bars, stock rear that came with indy car (daytona) Package (X vin) this car is so rare, theres literally under 1000 left this car deserves to keep going! for an extra 1500.00 i will include another complete vehicle a 1988 monte carlo SS that has a fully done up drive train, 355, th350 with shift kit, car ran 12.99 first and only pass! the car has TONS of upgrades and is a great rebuild or use the drivetrain for the trans am, will give you just the drivetrain for 1000.00 and keep the car buy from me and lots of opportunities will open for you!!!

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
