1980 80 Trans Am Turbo T Top A/c Power Window Cruise Nice Project Original 301 on 2040-cars
Martin, Tennessee, United States
For sale is a 1980 Turbo Trans Am. This is a nice solid southern body from Tennessee. The car has a small rust hole on passenger side quarter in front of rear tire, but the rest of car is very solid the rockers & fenders look great. The drivers fender had a dent someone tried to straighten, still needs some finishing there, you should be able to save the fender. The frame rails and floors look good. The floor has that rubber insulation that makes the floor look rough from inside car, but I peeled some of it away and it still has the blue paint under it. As you can tell from the underside pictures this is NOT a rust bucket. The rest of car just has surface rust, around back window is just surface rust, nothing through. The trunk lid has some rust in it where the weatherstrip went bad, on the lid, not the gutter. There is also some surface rust in the trunk area and maybe a few pinholes.
The interior is there, its had some of the dash apart and missing some pieces. The seats and door panels are there but could use some attention. It does have factory cruise control, tilt, power steering, power windows & locks. It also is a 4 wheel disc brake car. It is missing the hood hinges. It does come with the factory 301 not installed, but missing the carb and turbo parts. Overall its a great solid T-top car project! CLEAN CLEAR TITLE! SOLD AT NO RESERVE!!! Car is sold As-Is, where is, no warranties are expressed or implied. The car needs to be paid in Cash only and needs to be picked up Promptly in Martin Tennessee zip 38237. Any questions please call Marty at 330-240-1419 ***I also have a shaker hood and extra trunk lid, its NOT included, but will make the high bidder a great deal if they are interested. |

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
