Im selling my 79 trans am due to a busy work schedule and very little free time these days. WHATS BEEN DONE It has a 350 engine(less than 500 miles) that was rebuilt professionally with high performance heads and a new edelbrock carbeurator.  This car has some power. I also had the transmission replaced with a used one with about 60,000 miles. The door bushings were replaced so the doors open and close smoothly. It has a 10 bolt rear end and traction bars. I redid/replaced the interior a couple of years ago with new carpet, seats, dash cap, steering wheel. WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE I have a headliner that needs put in, it needs a passenger side door panel, and the windshield needs replaced. Its cracked and I think it leaks a little. The other glass including the t-tops are in nice condition. It needs the headlights, turn signals, and wipers wired and the trim that goes on top of the doors. It needs the spoiler that goes under the front. The front tires show some dry rot. The body has no rust except some surface rust inside the roof and  a spot in the trunk. The frame rails and sub frame have no rust. The brakes are soft from sitting, they were working, so it will need towed /trailered . The body looks pretty good, painted flat black, presentable, not show quality. Runs great, shifts great, steers straight  and wont take to much to make a great daily driver. I've been as open and honest as possible in hopes of a satisfied new owner and a good feedback response. Here's some details so we're both happy! Continental u.s. only-Will assist as much as I can with the shipping process, but it is ultimately up to the purchaser/buyer  to make their own arrangements for pick -up and cost of shipping/transporting-must be picked up within 7 days after auction ends-NO ZERO BIDDERS-No refunds-No warranty or guarantees implied-purchase is an "AS IS" basis. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
