1979 Pontiac Trans AM. Excellent driver quality. Im the second owner and I bought it from the original owner about a year ago. I browsed and drove several Trans Ams before buying this one, Ive seen outragous price tags on junkers that needed sooo much work to even be close to what I have here, so I saved you the trouble. NADA's book values are WAY off valuing this car for $20k, Hagerty.com values it for around $16k which is more accurate. Im asking below that at $13,900 or best offer. Im ready to move on to another classic so this one must go. Feel free to ask any questions as I will only cover the basics here. This car is a numbers matching 1979 Trans AM with the 6.6L (403), automatic transmission, tilt steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise. Everything is original except for the Kenwood CD player/sound system. Everything works except for the clock. It runs and drives excellent. There are no leaks from the engine or transmission. The body is straight and the paint and clear coat are in great condition and shine well with a few flaws as seen the last 4 pics. The interior is in excellent condition with no rips or stains in the seats or carpet, no cracks in the dash board, the seat back covers could be replaced but still function.  I will say that I would can get in this car and drive anywhere however it IS a 1979 car and not a "new" vehicle so if your driving in from a nearby state, I think you could drive the car home with no problems. The car is not "perfect" but could win a local car show and be a great driver on Saturday night cruises. Payment must be cash or a cashiers check verified by my credit union before the car will be released, I have the Oklahoma title in hand free and clear of any liens. If you would like to make a down payment with PayPal that is fine however you will have to pay the fees that PayPal charges me. Thanks for looking!!

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
