1979 Red Pontiac Trans Am Survivor Ws6 Low Miles T Tops on 2040-cars

Year:1979 Mileage:35650

Up for auction is my very nice un-restored 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. It was built at the Van Nuys plant and sold new at Till’s Motors in Bellevue IA. The first owner traded it at Dan Kruse Pontiac. This is where the second owner bought it on August 10th 1982. At that time the car had 27,916 miles on it. I purchased it from the second owner’s estate last July. The car currently has just 35,600 miles. There is a log book to account for most of the miles added by the second owner.

This is a mostly original car with only the tires, radio, battery, mufflers, upper radiator hose and the Air Conditioning compressor being changed. The A/C has been converted to R-134. The mufflers are vintage Walkers that have a lifetime warranty and were installed back in 1986. The A/C work was done back in 2008. This is when the upper radiator was changed also. The radio has been replaced with a “state of the art” (at least for 1979) Alpine in dash AM/FM Cassette player with a power booster/equalizer. It really does sound pretty good. This unit was a bolt in with no cutting or hacking required. I do not have the original radio.

The car is equipped with the 403 Oldsmobile engine and an automatic transmission. It is code 75 red with no hood bird. Most people say it is hood bird delete but this was an option that was not ordered. It has the black deluxe interior. Some other options include tilt, cruise, intermittent wipers, A/C, Power windows, T-Tops and WS6 Suspension. I have some paperwork and the build sheet.

I would describe the condition of the car as what it would look like if you could go back in time and buy it when it was a two or three year old used car. It looks incredible but there are a few little door dings etc… The driver’s seat has a very small wear mark on the left side bolster. There has been some early 1980’s vintage GM dealership lacquer paint work done to the bottom of the fenders and quarter panels but it is mostly original paint. This painting was for chips in the paint, not rust. There is no and has never been any rust! It has not been driven in the winter and has not even really been in the rain since 1982. It has been a toy since being purchased by the second owner. It has been stored in a heated garage forever.

I am not a dealer or broker. This is my car and it is titled in my name. The car is licensed and insured but unfortunately it is hardly driven, that is why it is being sold.

I have many photos posted at this address:

I am not really interested in any trades as I am trying to downsize but I would consider an up or down trade for an interesting Mopar, an original paint Survivor quality Black with a Red interior 1978 Trans Am or a very nice low mileage late model Corvette convertible. I have no interest in any Harley Davidson motorcycles.

My work hours are not normal so do not be alarmed or offended if I am not able to reply to your questions right away. I will respond. I do not like the eBay policy of hiding user ID’s. If you are a real bidder and want to know who you are bidding against let me know and I will tell you. You will not find any ghost or phantom bidders here!

Terms of Sale

These are my terms! By bidding you accept these terms! Non-refundable $500.00 deposit due within five business days of auction end. The balance is due within fourteen days.  The car must be paid in full before it leaves. I will store the car at no charge for three weeks. If longer storage is needed it can be arranged but it should be worked out before the auctions ends. The car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS and WITH NO WARRANTY! I will provide clear title but the taxes, transfer fees, license and transportation costs are the buyer’s responsibility. The car is available for inspection just about any time, please call and make arrangements. I strongly encourage you to come and look at the car before bidding. If you cannot look at it yourself, there are several experts available for hire within three hours of me. If you choose to fly in for a look the closest airport is DBQ. MLI, CID, MSN and RFD are within a 90 minute drive to my house. I have described the car the best I can but what looks good to me may not be what is acceptable to you. If you choose to bid on it sight unseen you are doing so at your own risk. Please remember you are bidding on this car to own it not to come and look at it. I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please do not ask what the reserve is. It is reasonable and it will not be revealed. If you “accidentally” bid over the reserve and then retract your bid I will block you from bidding. If you have zero feedback or a poor feedback rating please contact me before bidding. If you do not, I may cancel your bid with no explanation or warning.

Check my feedback and bid with confidence.

Thanks and Good Luck!

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
