1979 Pontiac Trans Am Very Nice Condition, Less Than 500 Miles On Rebuilt 403 on 2040-cars
Lubbock, Texas, United States
1979 Pontiac WS6Trans AM. Has 71,000 miles, clean interior. Seats are in great shape. A/C blows could and heater work great. It has the disk brake rear end, and 15x8 snowflake wheels. 275/60's in the back and 235/60's in front. Runs and drives great, 403 was rebuilt and has around 300 miles since complete rebuild. I had a mild Edelbrock cam installed. I also went with a Edelbrock performer intake installed. I had the intake painted with the engine to retain the "factory" appearance. The engine compartment looks like it did in 1979. Everything is as it should be. Very clean and tasteful. Engine is not numbers matching. I do have the factory numbers matching block to go with car. Has new 2 1/2 inch duals thru Magnaflows, sounds great The interior is in great shape! Has new factory seat covers and carpet. Dash is in 99% condition has one very small crack that can be repaired. Center console is flawless but arm rest lid has cracks. Pioneer cd player with remote. The body is in very good condition. It has had 1 repaint since new. Paint is around 10 years old but in great condition. Paint and body is 98% looks better in person than the pics. It does need the welting for flares replaced. I will try to get this installed before auction ends. On May-06-14 at 03:14:51 PDT, seller added the following information: Would make a great daily driver or weekend warrior. It has been garage keep and shows very well. I always get thumbs up at stop lights. Reserve is less than you can build a rust free and clean trans am. I would be happy to answer any questions text or call 806-789-0369 |

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
