1979 Pontiac Trans Am Black on 2040-cars
Goldsboro, North Carolina, United States
Selling for a friend. Please call him for any details. Scott: 919-610-0278.1979 Trans Am with T-Tops, power windows, rear defrost, AC (needs belt). Very original car. Needs very little to get to the next level. Paint looks like an 8-10. Over all a very solid car. I saw no rust on the car. Carpet may be original, has a bad spot on driver side. Original miles believed to be 45,916. Motor has 3000 miles (Est) Motor was built to run by Mr. Peabody at Central VA Machine Shop, a well known Pontiac man who builds race engines. Car has a great sounding 535 Lift Cam. Also at some point a 5 speed trans was added. Has all 4 wheels factory disk brakes. Very solid Trans Am. We welcome all inspections. I am not a pro on Trans Am. VIN #2W87Z9N. Trim tag verifies Black paint, A-31 power windows CC1 Fisher T-Tops, A-51 Bucket seats, N Norwood Ohio Plant.
On Apr-13-14 at 08:20:58 PDT, seller added the following information: We will try to get details of the motor work which was said to have been up in the 10k ball park .

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
