1979 PONTIAC TRANS AM...455 ENGINE

T Tops and a very solid body.

VIN:  2W87K9N152463

TITLE: Clear Ohio title in hand.

For your consideration I have for sale a real Muscle Car, this 1979 Trans Am has a 455 cubic inch engine and its strong. The 455 engine has been built with lots of goodies like Edelbrock heads, Eagle rods and a big old dual line, dual pumper Holley carburetor. The body is very solid, but the paint is old and weak, the paint is not good. 4 wheel disc brakes and power steering. The mechanical is good, even the interior dome light works. The original window sticker comes with the car.

PHOTOS/PICTURES: ebay motors makes it a little hard to find all the pictures, pictures are hidden. Look at the down arrow to the right of the pictures, click it and you will see more pictures make the paint look better than it is.

My contact information is near the bottom of the listing!!!!

PLEASE HERE THIS: This is a Muscle Car, the engine is not original, its a 455 cubic inch built for power. It has a looping cam, big heads, headers, big exhaust pipes and Flow Master mufflers. It is very drivable, but its not the same as it  from Pontiac. The body is very solid, but the paint is weak, the bird decals are the originals.

BEST THINGS ABOUT THE CAR: The body is great, no rust issues that I see, the underside is solid, the engine runs like a demon, the transmission shifts good, the gauges work, the tires are good.

WORST THING ABOUT THE CAR: The AC needs work, the parts from the firewall back are gone, the paint is old and weak, most paint is original, car deservers a fresh paint job. I think the big Holley carburetor is too big, it does run good "fast", but a smaller one would be better for normal cruising. Mostly original paint and decals, the paint is weak.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for 44 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

Sorry, I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will be happy to help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday.

Sorry, I do not do videos. I'm old and just don't enjoy doing them.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard for both of us!

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

ENGINE: The car was born with a 400 engine it now has a very strong 455 cubic inch. The engine was built by Kramer & Kramer, they are performance builders from the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I have a receipt for part of the work, its for $4,700. The engine has aluminum Edelbrock heads, aluminum intake, the rods are by Eagle, the carburetor is a dual line Holley, the cam has a nice loop to it.

the ignition is now has a MSD box, it is causing problems, I have a new high energy distributor order, should be here Monday. Its a good engine, but not the original.

TRANSMISSION: Its a Turbo 350 3 speed automatic, it works good with no slip. Its suppose to be built stronger, but I have no documentation.

EXHAUST: Full tube headers (not coated), big pipes, the mufflers look like Flow Master to me. The exhaust sounds just right to me, it has the deep/loud Muscle Car Sound.

REAREND: It a 10 bolt with no grinds or growls, I have not checked the ratio, but its a good highway gearing, it not real low.

INTERIOR: Good interior, the headliner is good, the carpet and seat look good, the front seats look like they have been redone. 1 little crack on the dash and 1 rear seat area ash try cover missing, the package tray area is faded.

T TOPS: The glass is clear and in good condition, the rubber weather stripping is decent. The T Top covers are still in the trunk.

GLASS: Decent glass, its not milky or cracked, the side windows roll up and down decent. Drivers window has minor scuffs from going up and down of the years.

BODY: No rust issues, no rusted holes and I did not see even 1 bubble. The underside is solid, but not detailed, it has some rusty color metal, but its solid. Its a real good body!

PAINT: Old and weak, I know the pictures make it look great, but its not. Past owner said most of it was the original paint, including the decals. Lots of scuffs and marks on the paint and 3 or 4 little dings. Sorry, but its hard to get perfect paint, great mechanical and a solid body for this price.

BRAKES: Good, they are power assisted, disc front and rear. The parking brake cable and linkage all looks to be in place, but the inside release is missing.

STEERING: The car drives good, it is power steering.

WHEELS AND TIRES: The wheels are original Pontiac Honey Comb, they are good, but if I painted the car I would redo them. The tires have good tread.

LIGHTS: I think they are work, even the interior dome light.

GAUGES: They work, even the tach.

Original space saver spare tire and T Top covers are in the trunk.

ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER COMES WITH THE CAR.

SPEEDOMETER IS WORKING, HORN IS NOT WORKING.

This was and original Air Conditioned car, the parts from the firewall forward are gone.

The hood cable is hard too pull, it opens good enough, but you have to push it back in, I lubed it and hope it will get better.

HEADS UP: Most of the paint is original and very weak, the decals are faded originals.

<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I DO NOT SHOW CAR ON SUNDAY>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Its good business for both of us the take a deposit. A $250 deposit locks it in for you! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 66 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but some of them do not impress me at all,  they can make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: Sorry, but my firm price is $13,800 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
