This is my matching numbers 4 speed TATA. The car is very tight, very fast and is the most fun to drive of any Trans am I have owned over the past 35 years. The car is in excellent condition, always stored indoors and has always been well cared for with no rust ever, car has always been in the south. The previous owner is a Pontiac collector known for the quality of his cars. The paint is 15 years old and shows some wear and chips, but still shows great and draws a crowd anywhere it goes. It will need paint at some time to be concourse, look at the pictures and you can see the paint still looks great. The interior looks almost new, there is a fingernail chip on the steering wheel, drivers seat shows some use. see the pictures. All glass including mirrored T-tops look almost new. Everything works, the clock gets stuck sometimes, the radio has been replaced with a Pioneer radio/cd, stock ones are available on Ebay. The A/C system is 100 % new with R12 ice cold. Mechanically the car is near perfect and needs nothing. The matching numbers motor was refreshed at 55k and is super strong, it will need valve guides on the next refresh. The Super T10 is matching numbers and appears to have been refreshed at some date, I have no records of when, but it shifts great and is very quite. The rear end is matching numbers and was serviced by me, including axle seals, balancing driveshaft and new u joints. I just installed a NOS set of Goodyear GTII 255/60R on car, stickers still somewhat there, car is a blast to drive. There is too much about the car to list here, it can be enjoyed for years as is or take it to the concourse level if you want. These are one of the fastest appreciating collector cars there is, hate to let it go, but I have a 72TA I want to restore. Please only bid if you can have funds available within 7 days, Buyer pays all shipping cost, I will help coordinate shipping with you for free or if you want to fly to Atlanta and drive it home I can pick you up at the airport. Please with any questions or photos you need before bidding, this is a no reserve auction, I will let the market decide. Car needs nothing to enjoy for years.  Car is for sale locally, I reserve the right to end auction early. I have over 24k and much time and care invested in this car. Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
