1979 Limited Edition 10th Anniversary Pontiac Trans Am.  This is a true 10th Anniversary Trans Am.  Only 7,500 10th Anniversary Editions were produced.

This is a very solid driver. The car runs and drives very good.  Obviously its a real head turner.

I have taken numerous pictures and have not hid any warts.  It is a great 10 footer.  It has several scratches and the paint is peeling around some of the trim pieces.  It is an older paint job that shows its wear.  There is some minor surface rust at the drip edges of the hood and trunk.  Drivers side rear quarter has a 1" diameter rust bubble.  There is a 3"-4" long indention in the passenger side door that can be seen in the right lighting. I tried several time to capture in in a picture without luck, but when viewed from the right angle you can see it.  The truck lid has a few scratches as well.

As you can see from the pictures the drivers side floor pan was shot when I got it.  I had a new floorpan installed. I also replaced the carpet.  The interior is in good shape.  There are a few imperfections and one crack in the dash that is 2" long.   The carpet on the drivers door as a 3" hole in it you can see in the picture.  All gauges(including the clock) work. Power windows work.  Power locks need work. The car is air conditioned, however it is missing the compressor.  You won't miss it though, take the T-tops out and let the wind blow through your hair!  There are no rips or tears in the seats.  An Alpine stereo is in the car but needs the housing fixed to be operable.  I do not know if the odometer is showing the true milage, if I had to guess I believe it is correct.

This does appear to be a true numbers matching car, however I have not taken the time to search out the numbers on the motor to verify.

With a little body work and a fresh set of paint you could easily double the value of your investment.  I've got several other projects I'm finishing up so as they say, my loss is your gain!

Contact me if you would like additional pictures or have any questions.

I have priced this car to sell.  I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is being advertised locally.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
