This is a 1978 Solar Gold rebuilt to original specs.  This is an original Solar Gold only 880 built in 1978.   I have owned it for three years, have the original build sheet and have done all of the following to update the car.  Too Many toys and must thin out them and me...

Mechanical:

              * Professionally Rebuilt motor - 500 miles  * New Alumium Radiator * New Brakes * New Carbuerator * New A/C Unit & hoses *New intake manifold *  Rebuilt transmission * New Catalitic Converter * new exhaust pipes * Flowmaster mufflers * Sway Arm bushings * Fan Clutch * Exhaust manifold...etc

Exterior:

              * New Paint Original Solar Gold - Van Nuys Color (different from Ohio color) * New Tires * All new weatherstripping around the Factory Gold tinted T-Tops and Doors  * New Decals

Interior:

*New Dashpad * Replaced non-working Instrument cluster * New Headliner * New Door Panels * New Carpet * New Seats * New Package Shelf  *New CD Stereo & Speakers * New Seatbelts - Lap Belts for front seats

This car is a trophy winner at nearly every show it goes to even the Pontiacs Only in Madera.  I have a photo album and a cover to go along with the car.  This car gets lots of head turns, thumbs up and comments.  It is not a frame off or rotissery restoration but this is a car that has been redone with care and is driven to shows all over California...that also means there are a few dings and paint chips from driving.  Nothing that would stop you from voting it 1st place in category.   Items that I would update include:  Temp Guage does not work, Passenger side window motor is slow; rear window trim needs additional clips and chrome to be updated.

Wish I could keep it but alas I can not.  Email any questions I am happy to answer questions, except the "whats your reserve??"  It is set well below what I have observed similar Special Editions sell for.  No BS bidders please this is hard enough to part with.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
