Offering for sale, this fantastic 1978 Pontiac Trans Am SE Y88 model. This is a genuine "Smokey and the Bandit" Special Edition. Though it is a Y88 repainted black, it is 1 of only 1267 4 speed cars produced in 1978 and came with W72 220 HP engine. Documented by original build sheet and PHS dealer invoice (please see pictures). I have driven this car over 6K miles in 5 Bandit Runs 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 without any problems. It has been driven all over the country and has been photographed for High Performance Pontiac magazine. The decals on the rear window are just some of the stops in the Bandit Run. I have receipts from the owner who made the color switch 2006 and all improvements that I have made. I rebuilt the transmission and rear end with 3.43 gears. I replaced the rear lights with LED Restore a Muscle Car lights and added custom Year One Burt Reynolds Edition door panels with 6 inch Boston Acoustic speakers. The engine runs strong and have no reason to rebuild it. I assume that this is the original engine but I am not a mechanic. It has a rebuilt Rochester carb and new larger radiator for long distance driving. New Ram Air exhaust with cross pipe !! Also, new heavy duty starter with heat shield was placed. The seats were recovered, Dynamat sound deadening placed on the floors, and has a new CD stereo with rear 6 x 9 speakers and amplifier. I added the required Cobra 39 channel CB radio with operating PA speaker for Bandit Run communications !!! The trunk has correct period spare tire, jack, and tire puncture canister. The only rust is a pencil sized spot on the lower rt rear quarterpanel (see pic). The T Tops occassionly leak, I have never heard of any that did not !! I have just had the wheels correctly painted as well !! ice cold air conditioning as well !!!!!! The passenger sunvisor was signed by BURT REYNOLDS himself during a Bandit Run to Jupiter Florida (please check out photo) !!!
If you are looking for the perfect vehicle for driving on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bandit_Run then this it !!!! It is fully sorted and drives great. I sell this car with a heavy heart as I have had some of the best times of my life on these Bandit Runs but have other car projects on the horizon.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
