I am listing this car for a friend of mine.  He purchased it a couple of years ago from a guy who was going to turn it into a car for the strip.  He saved a rock solid car from certain total destruction.  The past owner stripped it down to lighten it and connected the sub frame. This is as far as he got on the body ( see pictures )

This is a factory 400 automatic car.  This is not the original 400 motor from what we can tell but it is a 400 motor with the number 77 stamped on it.  This motor was rebuilt per the past owner and is ready to go. It has a mild cam. We do not have any additional info about the motor. It looks like it was rebuilt.

The body is very solid with no rust holes except a small area in the passengers side floor pan( see pic ) The rest of the body is incredibly solid. This car must of been pampered most of it life and kept out of the snow. This is also the original paint.  My friend was going to turn it into a a smokey and the bandit clone but never got around to doing it.  He has purchased a lot of parts including a new seat interior and door panels.  The original seats were missing but included are seats from another car. There is no carpet. It also comes with a brand new gas tank.   Everything pictured is included.

This car has just over 48,000 miles.

The trunk will need a patch due to the cut out ( not rust )

Rims have been reconditioned to better than new.  Tires are in very good condition

This is a nice chance to pick up a very solid 1978  Pontiac Trans Am that just needs put back together. It appears that most of the parts are there. Hard to tell with the parts being removed.   View this link to see a lot of extra detailed pics of the car. You can also enlarge each picture.   www.SlickPic.com/u/MJones25

This car is for sale locally for 6100.00 so he reserves the right to end the auction early. Any questions phone 330-622-1483

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
