This is a 1978 Pontiac trans am. I have owned this car for about 6 years. I originally purchased it from a guy in Arkansas. since I have owned it I have replaced the fuel pump, carburetor, plug wires, pinion seal, brakes. On the inside I replaced the carpet, headliner, fuel gauge. Redyed the dash, center console, trim panels and installed sound deadening material under carpet and behind trim panels. It has aftermarket stereo in glove box with amp in truck. has original radio in vehicle and 8 track player, but they are not hooked up and I don't know if they work or not. It has two new back tires.

this vehicle has a pontiac 400 6.6 motor, It is a automatic. Has Holley Street Avenger 770cfm carb. Edelbrock intake. Hooker headers with flow master exhaust and Holley mechanical fuel pump. previous owner had installed a mild cam also.

This vehicle runs and drives well.  I've never had any problems with the car. Last summer I used it as a daily driver for about 2 weeks in 90+ degree weather and it never over heated while sitting in traffic. it does have rust spot behind the drivers side rear tire. also the paint is cracking on the roof just behind the t tops. floor panels have been replaced and trunk pan looks solid. Power locks never have worked, also the air conditioner was removed before I bought it.  sometimes the drivers window stick and you have to wiggle the wire. Also the dash has one crack in it.

this car is listed as pick up only. If you would like to see additional photos, please ask.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
