Up for your consideration is my 1976 Pontiac Trans Am.  It is an original black car with paint code 19. The car is mechanically sound and drives and handles great. If you are looking for a fun driver condition t/a that will draw a crowd everywhere you go, this is the car for you.  If you are looking for a show car, please look elsewhere.  Just had the car color sanded and buffed.  The paint shines nicely but has some flaws.  The drivers door does have some waves from filler. The other panels are very straight. Interior is in good shape, new front seat covers, carpet, headliner. Dash is original and not cracked or capped. rear seats and door panels are original and show a little fading and some wear. Power windows work great, glass is good, no scratches on door glass, new dark tint on back and sides.  undercarriage and floors are rock solid.  Below is a list of modifications or maintainence items that have been done:

Suspension:

-eibach front lowering springs, kyb shocks front & rear, new front brake lines, new year one honeycomb wheels 17" x 9" w/ nitto tires

Engine:

-30 over rebuild with comp 268 cam, hooker headers, 2.5" dual exhaust w/ t/a tips, edelbrock performer intake w/ phenolic spacer, rebuilt the stock quadrajet carb, new plugs, wires, 50k volt hei ignition cap/rotor (motor is original 400 engine)

Drivetrain:

-rebuilt turbo 350 (original tranny), 2k street stall, tranny cooler, b&m shifter, 3.42 gears with correct spedo drive & driven gears for tire size and gear ratio, new axle seals and bearings replaced also

-----

the good: very nice looking trans am that drives awesome and turns heads, no cracked or capped dash, original black car, all glass in excellent shape, this t/a is nice enough to look great cruising and not too nice that you are afraid to drive.

the bad: a/c not working, front spoiler missing, 2 small rust bubbles starting to show in lower quarters.

I am very picky and have owned several hot rods, muscle cars, corvettes, etc.  I pride myself on being accurate when describing cars, my feedback is 100%

This is not a fire sale, please no low ball offers, I do not have to sell this car, only selling to purchase a 4th gen trans am or firehawk.

Please feel free to email or call me with any questions

Thanks, Don (806)433-3703

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
