1976 Pontiac Trans Am 400 4 speed. This car is mostly disassembled by the previous owner who wanted to change the color back to the original black. The engine is a period correct Pontiac 400 and the 4 speed transmission is the numbers matching original Borg Warner Super T10. The transmission was totally professionally rebuilt. All body panels are rust and repair free. The floor pans, trunk pan and frame rails are all original and rust free. The front inner fender wells again are rust free. This T/A was originally black but is now firethorn red, the paint was excellent but from moving and being in storage it does have some scratches. The original honeycomb wheels are in excellent condition and included is a brand new set of 4 BFG TA radials. Many new and excellent used parts are included with this car. A brand new set of Phoenix T/A decals is also included along with new speakers, new carpet, sound deadener and much more. The 400 engine spins freely but will need to be partially reassembled. A period correct intake and 4 speed 1976 carburetor are also inlcuded. The shaker is nice and a correct air cleaner with ALL ducting in excellent condition are all also included. The dash, gauges, bezel are all in excellent condition and still installed, and all wiring is intact and in great shape. A rebuilt tilt steering column with T/A steering wheel is also included. The dash does not have any cracks whatsoever. The standard front and rear seats are nice, but show a bit of wear from being in storage. The glass is all still installed and in excellent condition. The car does have the decor trim package which also is in great shape. The flywheel, clutch and bellhousing are also in very nice shape. All the interior plastic and door panels are excellent. The front sub frame was gone over and repainted a few years ago. The only body panel that may need a minor repair is the hood from some rust starting on one edge from being in storage. The quarter panels fenders, inner and outer wheel houses, and rocker panels are all original and again rust-free. There is no rust underneath this car!!! I believe it to have the original posi traction rear end with T/A sway bar. The trunk lid is also excellent but has stripes, paint will be included to repaint the entire trunk lid. All wheel spoilers are also included and still in very nice original condition. Very little would need to be purchased to finish this excellent rust free project car. You would have a very very hard time finding a 76 T/A this clean...it is very impressive to see just how clean and rust free this car is, even the rear body panel under the rear bumper is surpisingly rust free!!!! Most if not all of the missing pieces have been purchased, although you may still need to buy a couple to professionally complete this project. This is a non a/c car with a standard black interior but any options could be added during the restoration. The front bumper is very nice but does have some paint cracks. The fenders are rust free originals with air extractors. The doors are also rust free originals and still installed. The radiator support is also solid and fan shroud is not cracked with radiator included.  The car shows 30,000 some miles on the odometer which I would have no problem believing, however the clean title came back with a PA EXEMPT due to the age of this classic car. If you are looking for a complete RUST-free Trans Am to put back together this is it!!! These rare 4 speed 400 Trans Ams are getting very hard to find and increasing in value rapidly, so now may be your last chance to own one that doesn't need floor pans, frame rails, rockers, ETC. Just look around and see what this car would be worth put back together. This is one very clean example of a rare T/A, that doesn't need a whole lot of work to be a very nice show car!!!

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
