awesome unmolested low mile original car. I have owned it for 4 years now and just don't have the time with my other projects. the guy I got it from had it sitting for at least 15 years, so its been off the road for about 20 years. this car can be yard driven on a trailor but is not street ready. I have the fuel pump fed from a fresh gas can on the hood. im sure the gastank needs cleaned out. the carb needs rebuilt as well, I honestly couldn't believe the car would run with this original carb but it will start up and the engine sounds great with no noises of any sort. the photos of the engine were taken with the carb off but its back on and running now. as you can see all the vacume lines and even the egr is still there, very original and hard to find like this anymore. of course from sitting this long the brakes will need gone over too. when I bought the car his title said 34,000 original miles so I have to think the milage is accurate. the inside of the car is amazing. other than the headliner hanging, and a 1 inch tear in the drivers seat, it looks like new. the dash is perfect with no cracks. on the drivers side in the corner of the windshield there is a rust hole that is hard to see but I took a picture of it. the car still has the original radio and speakers which work. I do not have any 8-track tapes to test the 8-track player, but its there. the carpeting is like new as well. the body on the car is straight as you can see from the picts. its been repainted at some time but needs a new paint job for sure. passenger side rear lower quarter was replaced at one point and it looks like the drivers side had some work done too. they did an ok job of repairing the back valance but its rusted on the inner side and should be repaired. the trunk is perfect as is the doors rockers and fenders. I was under the car today and could not find any holes in the floorpans or the rear frame rails. the car was undercoated and from sitting so long its peeling off everywhere(see pict), but its a very solid car. this is a perfect car to restore, this is not a car that you will get in and start driving without some work. original manuals, car-jack, and full size spare come with it. please ask any questions I keep my descriptions honest and I have sold many of these cars on here, I have a great feedback and I want to keep it that way. this is a no reserve auction, thanks

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
