2008 Pontiac Solstice Gxp Convertible 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Argyle, Texas, United States
This car has been meticulously maintained and is in perfect mechanical condition. This GXP is a blast to drive, extremely quick and handles flat through corners and is comfortable as a weekend cruiser. This car has never been tracked, just enjoyed during nice weather. There is nothing that the new owner will have to do to the car other than enjoy driving it. I have all records for every service completed and all things that I have added to the car. I was asking $16,500, reduced further now before I decide to trade in. Local dealer offered $15,000 for trade, but I would rather sell the car to someone who will appreciate it as it sits now.
Please email me with any inquiries. I also have a ton of additional pictures, but did not want to overcrowd the post and can send them via email. 42,900 miles 2.0 Turbo 260 hp/260 torque stock to the crank - with Trifecta tune approx 290-300 hp/320-330 torque to the rear wheels 5 speed manual all options available for a GXP: leather, monsoon sound system, oem lip spoiler, polished wheels 4 almost new Goodyear Eagle F1 GS2 tires, less than 9 months Rear Diff and transmission fluid changed at 35,000 miles - redline synthetic New spark plugs at 35,000 miles New water pump at 40,000 miles Oil always changed at 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic Options I have added that go with car: Trifecta Tune Magnaflow Catback exhaust B&G lowering springs (still have factory springs) 18" Vauxhall VXR wheels 20% tint on side windows, 5% on rear window Front GM splash guards Thank you for looking. |

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown
Fri, 22 Aug 2014Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.
GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
