This car is a Special Edition, which (to the best of my knowledge) means that it has those awesome hood vents, twin chrome exhaust pipes, and the emblems on the inside doors and on each side of the car.

I am the second owner.  I bought the car in Vegas in 2006.  This car has only seen 3 Chicago winters.  The last two were extremely mild, and during the one prior, I lived a block from work, so she didn't get driven through the salt very often.  Who ever owned the car before me loved it, it was in perfect condition when I took it over.

The car is clean.  It is nice on the inside and on the outside.

This has been my everyday car, and it's fun to drive.  Even though it's a V6, the gas mileage is not that bad (17 city, 28 HW).   It comfortably sits 5 people, and there is a pull-down arm rest in the back seat, with key-lock access into the trunk.

This car has not been in any accidents - I have a completely clean/clear title.

That being said, the check engine light is on.  I believe it is caused because the engine coolant is leaking.  I have no idea why - I don't have time to get that stuff checked out, which is why I'm passing on my baby.

On the dashboard, the supercharger measure is out, and the air conditioner needs a Freon boost.

I have taken all of this in to consideration when deciding on a price (Auto Trader lists this at $4800, KBB lists this car's "Fair Value" at about $4500).

I want this car to find a home with some one who will love her and take care of her.

If you are interested in taking a look, please contact me.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
