This Auction is for my 2002 Pontiac Grand AM SE. I bought this car from my neighbor who owned it from (9000 miles) 3 years ago with 176,000 miles on it. I used it as a "spare/second" vehicle and have only done 10,000 miles since purchasing it. It has been serviced/maintained as per owners manual all its life and runs "literally" like new. I have just serviced it and fitted a new battery and wiper blades. It needs 4 new tires immediately. I would have fitted them ($250 approx.), however I have just got another "spare/second" car from another neighbor with a leather interior (2002 Buick le sabre 189,000 miles) and don't need the Pontiac anymore. It's faults are 1. dinged at left rear wheel arch. 2. Clear lacquer coat lifting on top of front and rear fenders (due to sun exposure). 3. Dash panels "lifting/folding up" due to sun exposure. 4. Radio/clock display "does not work" so no clock but radio works, you just cant see the channel display. 5. Gear selector button ( you depress it to move the shift lever from drive to reverse etc) is loose and can fall out. I have fitted an elastic cover over the shifter lever to prevent the button from falling out. It has worked perfectly with this cover in place during the last 3 years. Everything else works exactly as it should, cold air/ power windows/cruise control/central locking/abs brakes etc etc. I have tried to show the car as best as I can in my photographs. Thank you for your interest and good luck bidding.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
