I purchased this vehicle as is sits over 30 years ago. It's been inside a barn on a wood floor the entire time. I need to make room for my son's racing projects. Therefore something has to go. I know that I will never have the time or money to do right by this car. Here is what I know as the background. I bought it from someone who was trying to make a show car out of it. Keep in mind, this was over 30 years ago. Standards have changed. I was told that it is a Lemans. Decoding the vin tells me that it's a Tempest. The title just says 1965 Pontiac. The previous owner disassembled the car. He sandblasted the body to strip the paint off. He warped the metal bad. However it is almost rust free. He painted it, saw how wavy it was, and re-primed the 1/4 panel. Someone stole his front seats out of his garage. He got discouraged and sold it to me and my father. As you can see by the photos, the interior is out, no engine, no trans. Lots of extra parts. I no longer have the radiator that is in one of the photos. I also have the bumpers in the rafters in my barn. They need to be rechromed, but I don't think that they had any holes in them. I may have other parts as well that are not in the photos. This car is very solid. The only rust that I have found is on the passenger side front floor board. There is one hole about the size of a quarter. And a few other holes that put together are about the size of a quarter. No rust in the trunk, cowl, 1/4s, around the glass etc. Very solid, but warped from sand blasting. A good bodyman can make this a nice car. I have 80 photos of this car and the extra parts. If you need a specific photo, ask, and I will try to provide it.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
