Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States
1970 Pontiac GTO, 455CID, 4Speed, Convertible, built in Pontiac, MI factory (factory location is a plus in terms of value). Cardinal Red, Red interior. All interior components are there and correct including the correct red seat belts (no longer available in red), driver side power seat, custom wood steering wheel, Rally cluster gauges, AM/FM Stereo radio, factory trunk deck lid release button in glove box, console and console lid. The exact number of GTOs in this color combination is unknown...but only 158 were produced in this drive train and convertible combination. This could very well be 1 of 1 in this color combination, drive train, with a convertible top. A black convertible top with a glass rear window is currently installed...(a white convertible top is factory correct for this car making it a Red on Red, White top - just beautiful...). Factory Trim tab (on firewall) and VIN NUMBER will confirm this information e.g 24267...... PHS documentation will be provided upon sale and will double confirm authenticity of this car. And, since the car is unrestored, you may find the original production line build sheet(s) in their usual locations. This is a unmolested factory original (except for convertible top--white is the correct color) and unrestored. This specific car should be considered as a collectible investment car and will certainly yield additional profits into the future. How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative
Tue, 29 Oct 2013How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?
