This One-of-a-Kind Pontiac G8 CST was originally a Pontiac G8 GT given to famed car designer Neil Tjin by General Motors in 2008.

For those unfamiliar with Neil Tjin’s previous works, the West Coast designer has built a number of high-performance Japanese cars including a R34 Skyline sedan with a RB26DETT GT-R engine as well as a carbon-fiber wrapped 240SX. GM asked Neil Tjin to create a Pontiac G8, like no other, so it could tour the country at the SEMA industry trade shows, and make people want to buy a G8, knowing they could make it whatever kind of car they dreamed it to be.

Tjin created a one-of-a-kind G8 CST,  built together with California’s Unique Fabrication and features a special Webasto twin-vent sunroof. The car’s exterior is finished in a PPG blue-gray paint scheme and inside there is diamond-stitched two-tone (red/black) leather as well as a Focal audio speaker system with custom subwoofers.  The resulting product looked like a corvette was mated with a BMW 5-series.

Unfortunately, Pontiac disappeared, and this left only a handful of Pontiac G8's out there, with this particular G8 having features that none of the others have.

The most amazing feature of this car which you can see (and hear) is the Vortech Supercharger.  Vortech made only made one supercharger kit for the G8 and this car has it.

The list of enhancements and upgrades for this car can all be found on the web.  What you may not find out is that $30,000 worth of parts and labor was put into this car (on top of the car's base value). You have the have the chance to purchase this car at only a fraction of what it's worth and appraised for.

Before Neil sold the G8, he made it "street driveable" by having the air lift suspension, sports/racing seats (and bar), and promotional stickers removed.

Eibach sport lowering springs were installed as well as the OEM factory passenger and drivers seats.  Of course the upholstery on the OEM factory seats matches the $10,000 custom interior that amazed the crowds at the SEMA shows.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
