1968 Pontiac GTO with PHS docs. Built in Fremont California and sold out of Tate Motors in Pomona California. This car just went under a frame on restoration. All the body panels are origional and straight. The car was Verdoro Green from the factory but was repainted to Aleutian Blue that looks absolutely stunning. The body panels are laser straight. The car is rock solid!! It also has the hideaway headlights too. The car is a numbers mathing with a 400 engine and 400 auto trans. The motor now has an Edelbrock intake on it but I will include origional with the car. It also has aftermarket Ram AIr on it too. There are his and hers Hurrst shifter as well with the car. The car runs like the day it left the factory. The interior has new carpet and seat covers from Legondary interiors. And the dash looks excellent. All the body panels are origional and super straight and the paint looks great you will be very happy with this car. A/C needs to be charged and could use sun visors replaced or recovered. CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero
Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
