2002 Firebird Trans Am "Black Bird" Rare 1 of 50, This is car number 28 of the 50 built in 2002 and the last year for Pontiac. These cars were built by GMMG in conjunction with GM and sold thru Carl Black Pontiac in Kennasaw, Georgia. This is one of a few Navy Blue Metallic cars built of the 50 and only has 16,500 miles. This is one of the best cars I have ever owned. It has the looks, performance, and the Black Bird package that makes the car a great investment. It runs and shifts as smooth as any car I've ever driven and has the great exhaust sound that goes with the power. The 380 HP is really close to 400 at the flywheel and will turn the quarter mile in 12 seconds. The car is loaded with options including the Ram Air Performance/Handling package, AC, T Tops, Leather Seats, AM/FM CD player & Monsoon 10 Speaker Premium Sound, Steering wheel radio controls. Black Bird package includes Performance pulley system, Hurst Shifter and short throw stick, Silver face gauges, Torq Thurst 17" wheels, Front and Rear Eibach springs, Dimpled front and rear rotors, Cat Back Chambered Exhaust, High Flow Air Box, Black Bird logos, graphics, & hood accent stripes, Logo floor mats & car cover. The car is in great condition from top to bottom and everything works. I have all the paper work that goes with the car. Great car for nice weekends or to take to car shows. I'm only selling to raise money so not interested in trades. I have the "buy it now" set at a great price. I have the car advertised locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early. Call Wayne at 205-790-7525 with any questions or to set up time to inspect.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
