1997 Pontiac Firebird Formula Convertible. One of only 341 Formula Convertibles made in 1997. Only 59,100 miles on this car. It has the LT1 engine. Auto transmission. The only non stock mods that  I've made are a Lingenfelter cold air induction, Magnaflow  high flow Cats and a Magnaflow Cat back exhaust which gives the car a great sound. In the nearly 3 years that I've owned the car I've done the following maintenance/repairs:

New Convertible Top/rear glass and defogger.
New Stock alloy rims
New Kumho tires
New Interstate Battery
Coolant System flushed
Transmission fluid/filter changed/replaced
Oil changed every few months
New transmission mount
New Cross Drilled and Slotted PowerStop rotors and pads

I've also installed a 160 degree thermostat and have it Hypertech tuned so it doesn't run so hot like many of these LT1s do. Temperature stays steady at about 170 even idling on a really hot day!

The car is in really good shape for a 16 year old car. It runs great and is alot of fun to drive, especially with the top down.
I've owned it for nearly 3 years and it has been covered and stored in a garage for all 3 of  the winters in which I've been the owner. Interior is excellent and has no rips or anything like that. Dash is in great shape with no cracks.  The paint is in pretty good shape for its age. Up close, it has a few issues. Rear bumper has some chips as does the passenger door. The front bumper has the typical spider web going on that most of these cars have. There is one very small spot of surface rust in front of the passenger rear tire.

Buyer is responsible for any shipping costs but I will do all I can to help with the logistics. Buyer needs to send a $250 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and the balance of payment will be made either with a certified check (car will be release after it clears) or by cash in person. Any other arrangements need to be discussed before bidding.

If you have any other questions, please email me. Thanks.

Car is for sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. Check them both out in the video and tell us in Comments which you want in your garage.

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
