Great foundation for project restoration. 1989 Firebird, base model.

Bought to restore, circumstances force change of plan. The paint needs to be refreshed, as you can see, but the lines are very good. Doors shut easily and do not sag. Have already found correct wheels on car and brand new tires with zero miles ($600 combined value). The original 2.8 block was cracked and couldn't be rebuilt. I have a 3.4 liter engine I heard run before it was removed from a 95 Firebird. We've already put most of the 2.8 accessories on it ($650 value). I also have a 3.1 liter engine and matching tranny from '92 Firebird. May or may not be rebuildable. Best upgrade we had planned was the installation of 4th generation seating - a direct bolt in upgrade, the driver's seat is power too. If you are interested in the 4th gen seats ($400 value), we can talk. Additionally, we have two spoilers, one black with center tail light and another blue one. There are also various pieces and parts from the '91 parts car including tail lights, light switch for dash, side mirrors, radiator and condensor for both the 2.8 and the 3.4 (will need this for the engine) . . .

I hate to part with this project, the car was my wife's first car - we found it and bought it again to restore. I've included a pic of the car after she had owned it 12 years - you can have it looking like this again.

Oh, I have both a shop manual and parts manual (1500 - 2000 pages each) ($200 value).

$2500 for everything or make offer.

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
