1975 Pontiac Firebird, No Reserve Survivor Only 55k Miles Execellent Condition on 2040-cars

Year:1975 Mileage:55365
Location:

Cornelius, North Carolina, United States

True barn find ! This Firebird has been in the same family since new. Exceptional condition for a non restored car. This is a survivor car!  I am listing this car for a friend who does not have an ebay account. She has a clean, clear, North Carolina title in hand. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a low mileage Firebird. Ok so here are the details.

Only 55365 miles, NO rips or tears in interior. Everything is bone stock down to the AM radio. It does have a AM/FM radio included with the car. (ok settle down I know your excited)

Factory 8 track player! Sorry no tapes included. Not sure if it works as I don't have any tapes either. Now where is that Van Halen 8 Track when I need it? Haha

Electrical: All lights, horn, and electrical items work as they should. A/C works but will need a recharge. Alternator light glows at idle but, using test equipment shows it is charging over 13 volts. Both headlights will need replaced as low beams are burnt out. Gas gauge does not work correctly, reads full all the time.

Engine:  Fires right up every time. Carb will need rebuilding as there is a flat spot in throttle just off idle (power valve or accelerator pump). Only part missing is a metal strap that goes over battery from front cowl to drivers side inner fender. Engine and accessories have surface rust on them. Air cleaner is all there and intact. No smoke from exhaust. No signs of oil burning at all. Engine feels solid.

Body: Overall in great shape. Paint is glossy but does have hard water spots or acid rain. Also has rust bubble on right side just behind passenger door (see picture). No body damage, dents, or signs of past damage. Looks like all original paint but can not claim that for sure. Front bumper has crack in nose of car just below grill (see picture). Fit and finish is excellent.

This car is being sold with no reserve. I do have the right to end auction early as it is for sale locally.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
