1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible on 2040-cars
New Lenox, Illinois, United States
1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible. This car was delivered to Metropolitan Pontiac in Denver Co. according to the PHS. documentation. Don't have any Docs. such as old titles, previous owners etc. I purchased this car in Oct. 2005 in Louisiana. Started a frame off restoration and completed it in 2011. It has around 300 miles since restoration completed. A very rare car being a Catalina convertible, most are Bonneville's. The frame was in mint condition no rust or damage. Blasted to bare metal and painted. All suspension parts where replaced as well as all brake parts. New brake and fuel lines along with a refurbished fuel tank. The trunk was replaced with a rust free from Arizona. The floors where solid and required no work. Correct relined short fin aluminum drums. new center caps, correct lug nuts. The 8- lug rims are 15" Chrome from retromotive. New 235/70/15 tires. 4 core refurbished radiator with shroud and declutching fan. The motor is a 1972 400 bored .30 over with all new internal parts. Heads are 7K3 which where gone through complete with new guides, three angle valve job then machined for 3/8 Chevy screw in studs with poly locks. A 1966 Tri-Pwr. sits on top was completely rebuilt with correct color plating for carbs and linkage. One wire alternator. Newly rebuilt 700r4 / overdrive. A 3:23 Posi. The interior is a bucket seat set from a 1962 Catalina Conv. including the consul and shifter, Tachometer. The door panels are original to the 1962 donor car. Custom Steering wheel redone. The interior is Tri- Color, Red, White and maroon. Frames are cleaned and painted along with new buns and or padding. Red carpeting. New top and boot, pump motor, cylinders and hoses. The body was very solid, any issues are replaced with metal. All stainless professionally polished, all chrome parts rechromed. Won 1st place at the 50 yr. POCI Convention. The exterior color is maroon in color picked from a color unique to a 2003 Chrysler Prowler. You will not be disappointed. Have more pictures of restoration for serious buyers. There is nothing left to do on this car except drive it. It drives and handles as good as new. Buyer to arrange shipping, can help with arrangements.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?
Mon, 08 Sep 2014The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
