This is my brothers 1956 Pontiac Custom Star Chief 2dr Hardtop .He is the third owner of this very original Pontiac the milage is indeed 43,278. This car was purchased new in a small town in Western Pennsylvania. 4 years later the husband passed away, the wife attempted to drive this rather large vehicle and on one of her early attempts hit the mailbox comming into the driveway denting the hood. She put the car in the garage where it sat for the next 35 years. The second owner purchased the car at her estate sale 1996. He had the gas tank cleaned and sealed flushed the cooling system, changed the oil and filter, added a new fuel pump and a tune up, new battery and fresh gas hit the key and she fired right up. Next he replaced the hood had the body refinished to original colors and the seats and door panels recovered. He enjoyed the car for the next 8 years. Advancing age and failing health prompted him to put this car up for sale. My brother purchased it in 2004 and has enjoyed it since. He took the car with him to Indianapolis Indiana where he resides. In the years he has owned it it performed flawlessly with only routine maintenance needed. This car can be driven anywhere without concern, it runs that good. the motor is amazingly quiet the trans shifts as new, and the ride is outstanding. The tires are the only things showing their age, good tread but starting to dryrot. My brother had a health issue last year the results are keeping him from enjoying the car, so it is time for a new steward to enjoy this car. Please enjoy the Pics I have posted. Call me( I am handling this for my brother) or ask questions via the auction. Remember this is not a show car! It is a car that can can be enjoyed being driven and shown with confidence. Again the car is located in Indiananpolis Indiana. Payment is as follows $500.00 at close of sale, Cashiers check or pay-pal. Balance within 10 days Cashiers check or Pay-pal. There is a clear Indiana title, pickup or shipping is new owners arrangement. My cell # is 412-445-3858 ask for Ed

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
