Up for sale is a 1974 Pontiac. I bought the car last July so it have owned it a year. My intentions was to restore it, but my job has made me go back to school for further education and financially I cannot do both. The car is from Colorado and was brought to Iowa, registered and then to a car show in Wisconsin were I bought it. Let me start by saying this car is super clean. Frame, doors, interior, trunk, underbody. I have included a before and after picture from last July of what the car looked like when I bought it to what it looks like now. I ended up driving it from December to March because my other cars transmission went out and I had to wait till I got my taxes to fix it. As a result the Wisconsin salt did a number on the paint. Let me be clear, this is just surface rust that you see, no rot, no holes. The car has 65,000 miles on it currently. It has a small hesitation when you step on it hard but it never bothered me. It has an exhaust leak either from the manifold or donut, I have bought both gaskets which I will include. The brakes squeak as of resent, I had all the wheels off and pads and shoes all looked good, so I don't know what is causing the noise, when you push down hard there is no noise it's only when you push a little you hear the noise. The windshield sprayer doesn't work. Heat is good. Rear tires are good fronts are expectable. I have not replace anything except the thermostat. So all the belts and hoses are old but working. The interior is in such good shape from the seats, dash, headliner, and door panels. Please email me with your questions. The car is for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end the auction early. The car is sold as is all sales are final with no warranty. If you do not have money, do not bid. The car must be picked up by July 8th with full payment. I will work with you if you need it transported, but you must arrange for pick up and all details.

I am having problems getting my pictures to upload. I have about 10 so please email me if you are interested. Sorry

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
