Attention Mopar restorers: I have an original 1966 Plymouth Satellite, factory 383 big block, 4 Speed, console, bucket seat, factory yellow project car.

This car is a rust free, California car with only 2 small dents (Only a few inches long, see photos.)  The car has been sitting for about 20 years or more in the Sacramento, California area. I recently purchased it from a friend who has had it for about 15 years. He bought it from another party who had it for who knows how long.

The car is 99% complete with the correct 1966 thick walled console and 1966 dual snorkel air cleaner. Also the correct 1966 valve covers are there as well as the 1966 ball shifter, factory log exhaust manifolds and the one year only Satellite body trim. The correct 1966 4 Speed, bell housing and driveshaft are also included.

The hood is a bonus also. It is a real 1967 GTX, dual scoop hood, which is worth good money in it's own right.

The 383 engine is not the original engine but it is a 1971 383. It ran good when I purchased it with no smoke and it had excellent compression in every cylinder. Notice photo's of motor with intake off.

The grille and bumpers are excellent and the one year only body trim is all there but it does need some repairs. (See photo's) The rear trunk trim panel is in good shape but not perfect. (See photo) The windows roll up well.

A few small items are missing, the shifter ball, radio, correct steering wheel, emblems and horns. The distributor is a dual point instead of the factory single point. The lower radiator support is dented and is not shown in photos but I am including one in excellent shape which can be easily installed. In the photos is shown a 26" radiator which was incorrect, so since then I have obtained the correct 22" which goes with the car.

Any Mopar fan knows that Mopar barn finds are hard to find especially in good condition, yet be a factory big block 383, 4 speed, console, bucket seat, original yellow car. On eBay and in the TV auctions these cars, done up right, go from $25,000 to $30,000. Please keep in mind that this is a car which is basically totally complete, excellent body with California roots, no rust or major body damage. A great project in all ways.

If interested please call me at                   530-417-7572       Jack.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
