For sale is a 1970 Plymouth Satellite 2 door hard top. Very good condition for the age of the car. A little rust in the quarters, car is very straight. 318 and auto transmission. Car runs and drives good, have installed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points and condensor. Changed oil/filter and rebuilt the carburetor. Carburetor still needs a little adjustment, but is fine once warmed up. Car has 14" Magnum 500 wheels on it with ok tires . I have also put new spring shackles on rear to get car back to stock. New exhaust with turbo mufflers. Front seat needs recovered and front left carpet is worn. The dash, dash pad, rear seat, headliner, rear package shelf and all door panels are in excellent shape. The trunk has some surface rust and one small pin hole that I can see. Floors, rockers, fenders, hood, grille and bumpers are in great shape. Car has A/C, power steering, manual brakes. Original fender tag is in place and have the original broadcast sheet that was under the back seat. These cars are very hard to find, let alone in this condition. Also put Road Runner taillamps in place of the Satellite taillamps. Original lights will go with the car. I have a 1967 383/727 engine/trans that will need rebuilt and a Road Runner hood (will need some repair) that will go with the car. Was going to use the car for my Road Runner, but the car is too nice for that. Just need to sell car so I can make room. Reserve is set at a fair price, for what these cars are. I know it is not a Road Runner or GTX, but it is a very nice, clean driver for being 43 years old. Call/text (785)341-1759 if you have any questions.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
