I AM LISTING MY 1972 ROAD RUNNER THAT IS A "P" CODED CAR MEANING IT CAME ORIGINALLY WITH A 400 ENGINE. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR THE ORIGINAL 400 WAS GONE AND WAS REPLACED WITH A 383 THAT HAD SEEN ITS BETTER DAYS. THE MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A 440 MAGNUM OUT OF A 69 CHARGER THAT HAS BEEN REBUILT. BORED .040 OVER, STEELE CRANK MILD HEAD PORTING AND 10.1 PISTONS. 727 TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT ALSO WITH A 2500 STALL CONVERTER TO GO WITH IT. EVERYTHING IN THIS HAS BEEN GONE THROUGH. THIS IS NOT A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR BUT THE QUALITY OF THE WORK DONE ON THE CAR IS EXCEPTIONAL. BECAUSE OF THE PAINT DESIGN ON THE CAR AND THE ENGINE COMBINATION I MARKED IT AS A GTX CAUSE IN 72 THE ROAD RUNNER GTX OPTION WAS AVAILABLE TOGETHER ON THE SAME CAR.
INTERIOR- NEW DASH PAD, CARPET, HEADLINER, DASH WIRING, JVC STEREO 4 SPEAKER SYSTEM WITH REMOTE CONTROL mounted on the bottom of the dash, i didn't want to cut the dash up, SEAT COVERS, REAR SPEAKER SHELF,RALLY GAUGE CLUSTER WITH WORKING TACH AND FULL GAUGE SET. SLAP STICK AUTOMATIC SHIFTER WITH CONSOLE.
SUSPENSION- FRONT END K MEMBER WAS REMOVED FROM CAR AND NEW BUSHINGS REPLACED ALL THE OLD ONES AS WELL AS STEERING LINKAGE, TIE ROD ENDS, BALL JOINTS AND NEW BRAKE LINES FROM MASTER CYLINDER TO DISC BRAKES AND REAR DRUMS. NEW BRAKES WERE INSTALLED ON THE REAR WITH NEW SPRINGS, WHEEL CYLINDERS AND GREEN BEARINGS ON THE AXLES SHAFTS. THE 8.75 REAR END HAS A SET OF 2.94 POSI GEARS FOR BETTER CRUISING SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY. CAR IS STILL SNAPPY WITH THESE GEARS THOUGH
TIRES AND WHEELS ARE AMERICAN RACING REV 17X7" ON THE FRONT WITH GOOD YEAR TIRES AND 17X8" ON THE REAR WITH NITO TIRES
BODY- WHEN I GOT THE CAR I REPLACED THE FRONT LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL AND INSIDE ENGINE BAY SIDE PANELS AND FLOOR PAN ON DRIVERS SIDE. THE TRUNK PAN AND LOWER REAR QUARTERS ARE SOLID CAUSE OF THE FACTORY Z BART UNDERCOATING THEY HAVE ON THEM. NEW FUEL LINES AND GAS TANK WITH SENDER WAS INSTALLED AS WELL DURING THE REBUILD. I TOOK THE BODY DOWN TO THE BARE METAL AND EPOXY PRIMED IT  AND THEN URETHANE  FILLER PRIMED AFTER ALL THE BODY WORK WAS DONE. THE REAR SPOILER IS STEELE FABRICATED BY MYSELF ALONG WITH THE REAR EXHAUST VALANCE MODIFIED FOR THE CHARGER EXHAUST TIPS. MARKER LIGHTS WERE SMOOTHED OFF TOO AT THE TIME. THE PAINT DESIGN WAS PICKED OUT BY ME USING THE B5 BLUE USED ON THE NEW DODGE CHALLENGERS. BODY IS STRAIGHT!! PAINT IS NOT A 20' OR A 10' PAINT JOB. IT LOOKS GREAT RIGHT UP NEXT TO IT! THE BUMPERS WERE MEDIA BLASTED AND PAINTED BODY COLOR AT THE TIME ALSO. CAR FEATURES THE RARE SPLIT GRILL. ALL WEATHER STRIPPING AND RUBBER SEALS WERE REPLACED DURING RESTORATION TOO.
ENGINE- 69 440 BORED .040 OVER, 906 MILD PORTED HEADS WITH HARDENED SEATS, 440-6PACK GRIND CAM USED WITH DOUBLE ROLLER TIMING CHAIN AND HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP. NEW WATER PUMP AND ALUMINUM RADIATOR. COMPLETE ENGINE AND FRONT END WIRING IS NEW TOO. HAVE NEVER GOT AROUND TO CHARGING THE A/C BUT ITS ALL HOOKED UP. EDELBROCK CARB WITH STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLDS 2.5" EXHAUST PIPE WITH DYNOMAX TURBO MUFFLERS WERE USED. NICE SOUNDING RUMBLE.
I HAVE DRIVEN THIS CAR TO THE MOPARS AT THE STRIP EVENT IN LAS VEGAS 3 TIMES, A TRIP OF OVER 1000 MILES EACH TIME AND TO THE NSRA NATIONALS IN COLORADO ANOTHER 1000 MILE TRIP. CAR HASN'T GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS AFTER COMPLETION. THERE IS ABOUT 6000 MILES ON IT AFTER BEING COMPLETED. I JUST HAVE TOO MANY CARS. CAR WAS A FEATURE CAR IN MOPAR MUSCLE MAGAZINE TOO.
95% OF THE WORK ON THIS CAR WAS DONE BY ME I KNOW IT INSIDE AND OUT SO IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK.
A NON RETURNABLE DEPOSIT OF $100.00 IS DUE AT THE END OF AUCTION. CAR IS SOLD WITH NO WARRANTY, AS IS. BUYER TAKES CARE OF SHIPPING OR PICK UP BUT WILL HELP WITH WHAT I CAN IN THAT MATTER.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
