This car has every piece still there, air cleaner to oil pan and bumper to bumper. I have roughy 1,200 pictures of every piece of it. There are only a handful of pieces missing such as the radiator, fan shroud, fan, fuel pump, water pump, and balancer. The dash is in incredible condition, still soft with no cracks. The car was stored indoors in a climate controlled environment. It is a two owner car. The second owner attempted to replace the rear quarters and trunk floor as you can see. It is an NOS trunk floor but has been cut in order to install. It is only partially installed using rivets. I can answer any question and take pictures of any area and send them to serious bidders. The underside is incredibly rust free, there is no rot in any of the floors or the roof or the front and back glass. You will save thousands not repairing those areas. The roof is perfect with no dents. The car has had only one paint job and is B5 blue which is original. It had a vinyl top on it which was not. I removed the top to check for hidden rot which there is none. The left rear quarter panel was replaced at some point with original sheet metal as the car has not been registered since 1979 and the repair looks older than that. It is a professional repair and not a hack job. I could go on for hours telling you about this car. The rear end is factory 3.55. The original air cleaner, carburetor, distributor, air conditioning assembly, exhaust system with resonators and factory heat shields all still there. I have the owner's manual and warranty papers, as well as the previous owner's contact information. The build sheet was still in the seat back. The engine has been removed and disassembled, but I have verified that every piece of it is still there with the exception of the parts previously listed. It has two sleeves in it but no signs of any problems after they were put in. It is still on it's standard bore. the crankshaft is in good condition and has never been cut. This car has the makings for a 25k car easily for the right mechanic. When I got the car it had all NOS replacement sheet metal on it which I removed but still have if anyone is interested in my other auctions. The fenders on there now are usable. The hood on the car appears to have possibly been NOS also but has been primered so I can't tell. It's an original and in absolutely perfect shape either way. The rear quarters are just screwed on for appearance but are high quality thick aftermarket replacements. The wheels, brakes and suspension are all original except for the shocks. Please call John at 508-942-2945 anytime with questions about this car. It can be viewed easily if anyone want to inspect it. Thank you very much, John.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
