Please read everything below prior to calling. Due to recent circumstances this car is being offered for sale. Owned since 4/18 of 1983. Long, long story but this car has been tucked away for many years. It's a '71 Barracuda. This is a project car obviously but a very solid start. VIN #: BH23G1B342615. Factory EV2 Hemi orange, H6T7 Bronze interior car. Factory 318 car, factory stick car with floor shift 3 speed. Currently has "slap stick" auto but floor hump and pedal assembly all still in tact. Engine does not run at this time. Haven't investigated further. Power steering, manual brake car. At one point the owner had a 1970 Cuda also for parts. He put the '70 dog house on this car in order to convert this car to the '70 look. There is over a truck load of parts from 2 cars. Everything was stored inside a garage. As far as the car itself goes, the sub frame is amazingly rock solid. Floors are in amazing condition as well with the exception of a few small places on the drivers side and one small place on the passenger rear (see video). Truck pan is bad, lower quarter are bad, fenders are bad but these are all things you can still buy. Extra pieces of glass, interior parts are there but in need of restoration. Front and rear valance are there. Extra steering box, loads of stainless trim, extra console, side marker lights, extra rear seat, front nose piece, boxes of bits, extra '71 taillights, stock flat hood, extra door and so on. Car has its GOODS and its BADS. Clear Indiana title in hand. I will try to answer questions to the absolute best of my ability. Be it for better or worse. You will need a full size truck and a car trailer to get everything here. Asking $10500 for everything but feel free to make a reasonable offer. I will listen to them. Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
