The Story
Hi everyone. Thank you for checking out the auction for my 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. I recently purchased this car in Toronto Canada with the hope of restoring it and dropping in some much larger muscle in the way of a juiced up 440. This car is as close to an unmolested car as I have ever been able to find, and trust me I've been looking for a long time! The Barracuda was purchased new in 1973 (that's right it sat on the lot for a bit) and changed hands in 1978. That was the last time the car was registered! It remained in the possession of that owner's estate until it was sold in an estate sale to a gentleman who kept it in a garage to tinker with but never drive. You can notice his work in the bolt-ons on the engine (the Moroso, etc.). Thankfully he is an elderly gentleman and lost interest before he was able to do any real damage. This is where I come in. I got word of the car from a friend and flew out to take a look at it. The car started right up and I took for a test drive. Everything sounded good enough for government work, so I did something my wife didn't really appreciate. I GASSED UP THE CAR AND DROVE IT 700+ MILES FROM TORONTO TO THE LAND OF LINCOLN WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS. Now I'm a much bigger euro-vintagar car guy (read Jensen Interceptors and the like) so I will never again experience 600+ miles with no fault ever again. The car was an absolute blast to drive and the looks/comments made me feel good to bring this thing back home. So why sell? Well, when it rains it pours and I now have an opportunity to buy a convertible that I've had my eye on for the longest time. So, my 700+ mile wunderkid will have to go but I know it will find a good home soon. This is a fantastic drive while you restore car with a patina that I might have considered preserving rather than repainting, but that'll be up to the new owner.
What's Not Original On the Vehicle
I went over the car to give you a better sense of whats been done to it prior to getting into my hands. The wheels are not original but the original spare is still in the trunk (the tires are newish however). The floorpan in the trunk has been patched. This is no big deal as a full original trunk floor replacement costs roughly $400-$500 bucks delivered (gotta love how less expensive american cars are to restore). The two barrel carb has been replaced with a four barrel and the front cooler has been replaced with something out of a late sixties barracuda model (see the shiny silver in pictures). It looks good, but I know some of you purists would call me on it If I didn't bring it up. I also noticed a patch in the engine bay near the fender, but the fenders themselves are super solid guaranteed. I believe the 318 2 barrel came with a single exhaust and you can clearly see a twin here so that might have been the guy's doing as well but I haven't asked/clarified with him since I was going dual anyways. Besides those few things, what you see is all untouched/unmolested barracuda!!!
Any Rust?
I'd ask the same thing. As you can see the carpets are original so I put it up on a lift and poked the floors. No issue there. The fenders and wheel wells are also solid. The rockers are fine but are showing some signs of minor rust, so I was going to see what I can do myself with chemicals and some good old elbow grease. Probably wasn't going to get any welders involved. Theres a picture of a what looks to rust around the windshield, but that is a joint that was traditionally filled with led from the factory so I was replacing that anyways during the repaint. The rear window has some bubbling so that'll need to get treated. Besides that I have not found any areas of major rust concern (i.e. no rust through). You can confirm that during your inspection and you'll be happy when you do.
The Interior
Front seat is torn up on the butt and will need to be re sleeved. The back seats are in fantastic shape. The door panels have lost color with age. The dash will need replacing as you can see in the picks. You'll need a new radio. All gauges are functioning, amazingly.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. '71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
