88 of the Convertible 'Cuda's produced in 1970 were factory equipped 340 4-Speeds. Less then 10 of those 88 cars were also equipped with factory A/C. This rare car being offered for sale is a number matching accident and rust free body and undercarriage that retains its original and perfectly aligned laser straight panels. Its a pretty safe bet to say that there are none nicer. I was lucky enough to include this car to my collection due to the previous owners unfortunate circumstances. I am offering this rare car for sale now only to meet other obligations but will cancel the Auction and keep the car if those obligations are met before a sale agreement is reached. The previous owners affection for this car is evident throughout in light of the quality restoration he insured while in his care after it being found completely original in a dry Colorado garage where it had been safely stored for 20+years. The restoration receipts total in excess of $100,000, and there are approximately 200 pictures that document before, during and after. The careful attention given to detail, time and money to insure that the original parts were professionally reconditioned as new for the sake of the car retaining as many of its original parts as possible, is incredible to say the least. At least 90% of what you see in the photos is the factory original equipment to this rare car. It runs, drives, rides and shifts even better than it looks. In fact, it's the smoothest shifting manual trans I have ever driven and I've driven alot, not just Mopars. Having said that, you can blame the previous owner if for some reason you don't like Red. The original color was B5 Blue with White top and interior. That's the way it was found in Colorado and there are pictures of that. The previous owner never dreamed of circumstances that would cause him to sell the car. He restored it to perfection to his own personal color preference, (emphasis added). I would have left it blue but I feel no umbrage that he didn't. He insured a meticulous color change.

Some of the factory equipment to this highly optioned 'Cuda include: optional engine compression ratio; block heater; auto speed control; power assist disc brakes; console; Rally gauges; tachometer; sport hood; hood pins; power top; painted dual racing mirrors; AM radio 8-track; dual exhaust and chrome exhaust tips. Those and other options compliment this 340, 275HP, H/D Pistol Grip 4-Speed Convertible very well.

Respectfully, I would recommend that you act quickly if you have been waiting on one of these less than 10 cars that were built to show up. For the record, I have not seen, nor do I know where one of the others can be located. In brevity, I am exercising due diligence to meet other obligations in order to keep this special car in my private collection as stated above. Thanks for looking.

To answer questions regarding restoration please note that the restoration was a 3 year process. NOS and date coded parts were used in place of any original parts that were beyond restoration. The car was painted by "Overhaulin" paint master Kenny Maisano in Costa Mesa, Ca using special Spies-Heckler 2 stage paints. The engine was also rebuilt to " better than stock " by Maisano Racing Engines. As stated above, the body retains all original body panels, grill, trim, stainless and bumpers. The interior was assisted by Just Dashes, Restorations by Julius, and other Craftsmen with over 30 years of experience with these cars. The 4-Speed transmission was freshened up using all of the original, unchipped gears and was updated with a Center-force clutch. It also retains all of its original reconditioned HD suspension and factory disc brakes with only the addition of new leaf springs in the rear. A "Firm Feel" steering box was added as an upgrade. The engine and dash wiring has all been professionally restored to better than perfect by a previous owner who is an automotive electrical and air conditioning technician by trade. The gauges are refaced and even include a quartz clock movement. The 8-track tape player has been restored and works well. The air conditioning was restored using all the original pieces with the exception of the H/C valve which is NOS. The car has a custom wound 100amp alternator and stock appearing halogen headlights. The Power Convertible Top is NOS with all the hydraulics restored to new. In the trunk is the coveted "Space Saver" spare tire and correct jack. Again, thanks for looking.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
