I said one day I will build my dream car, and will build it the way I think it should have been done from the factory, back it 1971. It will be better then the ones that came off the line from the factory. If you know anything about cuda convertables you will know they are very Rare. The rarest of them all is the 1971 hemi Cuda convertable, as there were to the best of my research, and knowledge, 13 built. 11 domestic, and 2 exports. The price range for thouse that sold, were between 2.5 and 5 million. I knew that unless I won the lottery I would never own one of thouse. So I did the best next thing. I bought a 1970 Barricuda convertable 318 car, that was apart, in most every peice it could be taken apart in. I thought, one day I'll put it together, like I think it should a have been back then, but better. So, 25 years later in 2007, I started the restoration. I collected parts and what I wanted, for most of those 25 years inbetween."

27 years ago, this car was in peices, when I purchased it. I bought a 1970 barracuda convertible, and collected parts for 25 years, to build my dream car. The 426 1968 block engine came out of a Hemi charger from back then. The Body was from AZ, and was nice rust free car to start with. The 426 1968 block engine came out of a Hemi charger from back then. First thing was to strip to the core, then be put on rotisserie, and have it taken to a bead blasting shop anf have it bead blasted, from top to bottom, and all its medal peices. Then PPG Primer was shot, and yellow paint applied. Several stages of that process, and about 2 months just to paint and have it correct. All the other body parts were painted seperate, and then assembled, after. One of the best body and paint guys I know in this area did the work. Truly once you see this car in person I think you'll agree, he is the best. The dt code 1968 real old school hemi block was taken to Indy heads, and what I asked was to habe built a street motor, that would run on pump gas, but still snap and run like the hemi I remember back in the day. Indy heads put to gather a great engine, not cheap, but the best. From there the list goes on and on, the 18 split manual 4 speed, was bought at the Mopar Nationals, in Ohio, from the guy who is the guru on those, the dana 60 4;11 gear, rear was gone thru with all new gears, ect from the rear end guru, ect. When I reached that point there were several questions, on the correct way to put this car together. I knew what I wanted as a final result, and that was a stock looking 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertable, shaker hood, rubber bumper, go wing, rocket. I wanted all the upgrade options that one could get on a Hemi Convert. and several you could not get. The big issue from there was who/ how to assemble this car and do it 110% right, so i could drive it, and go where ever, and also have things like the doors shut like i think they should have, not like they,in some cases did.? So next was to track down a guy I knew and heard of that did about 100 of these e-bodys, from originals to restro mods. His name was Brian. and I located him Working at one of the best restoration shops, a few years back, whic was Aloha Restorations, in Wisconsin. My Orders were, I want a car that drives like no other, looks more or less origianl, (even though it's a recreation) and the body lines and gaps look perfect, as well as goes and snaps, like a hemi should, and stops as good as well. I also want the air to be cold, and blow on me like a newer car, not like the old cars, and futher I want it all perfec and looks like it is as well. i cut the deal with Aloha, and after 3 years total, and still finding the smallest of correct patrs, and trim, here we have it. In my and I think several otheres opinion, one of the best Hemi Cuda, origianl/rest-ro-mod's in the country. I could go on and on , about this build, but I can provide documentation, and receipts, showing what was done and by whom. It took 5 differant sets of tires to finely get the right ratio, just for thouse. A littel bigger in the back then the front. ect. if your truly interested, I will tell you the rest over the phone or in person, if you want one of the best. I am not interested in any trades, or in any fire sales, I truly do not want to sell this car, and there is no other then I can think of I want or havn't owed at some point. I would only sell it to do something else in my life that I want to do, which is not another car. I have 238k invested and 25 years to produce this car. If you buld one today like this I think it would cost more then that.? I may take some small trade so not to be 100% cash, but it would ahve to be mostly cash. If not I keep her,and she stays right were she's at. Any futher Quetions Just ask. Thanks for taking the time to read this. T.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
