This piece of American history for sale is both regal and rebel combined. The Oldsmobile Toronado is the first front-wheel drive vehicle produced in America since the 1937 Cord. Its genesis sprang from the designers at Oldsmobile petitioning the decision-makers at General Motors for a personalized production vehicle that could compete with the contemporaries being put out by Ford and others. After much discussion, General Motors gave the go-ahead for a larger-than-planned platform, with permission for the designers at Oldsmobile to use their imagination. What they produced with the Toronado was beyond anyone's expectations.

A monstrous 425 was laid out in this front-wheel drive, two door sleigh packing a whopping 380hp from the factory! As one author described, "It's a cross between a locomotive and a chariot being pulled by a skilled and eager team of horses." The flat front floor, combined with luxurious seating and yards of chrome-laiden trim accentuate the 'I'm the boss' aura that surrounds you every time you sit behind the wheel. This classic is truly a vehicle to enjoy!

This particular vehicle has been in the family for many, many years. My uncle owned before his passing, and treated it with kid gloves. He stored it in his climate controlled garage at all times, and never drove it during the winter. He would get it out every summer for a few trips, running about one tank of gas through it per summer. Unfortunately, because it was stored in his garage, a box fell off the shelf onto the hood, making two small marks. Upon his passing, his wife could not keep it, so my mother purchased it from her. It has been treated with the same civility and respect as my uncle gave it, such as it deserves. It is stored at all time in our heated garage, and is always driven respectfully. To the best of our knowledge, the odometer reading of "16466" are the original miles. The only piece that appears to be missing is the one inch riser that attaches to the underside of the air cleaner housing. This vehicle has been a joy to own and drive, but mom and dad are to a point in their lives where they don't get to enjoy the car as it should be enjoyed. Dad prefers his motorcycle, and mom can't get over the '73 Cougar she owns like when she was younger. So, they have decided to pass this stately machine onto the next individual that can indulge in the vehicle like they once did.

Please note that, although the greatest of care has been taken with this vehicle, we cannot put any kind of warranty on it, so it is being sold as-is, where-is. We HIGHLY encourage anyone interested in owning this vehicle to come and look at it BEFORE bidding. We want positive feedback from this sale, and we want the buyer's experience to be pleasant as well. Please do not bid if you are not serious about  purchasing the vehicle. The purchase of this vehicle must be completed within seven (7) days of the auction end. Please note that only cash or wire transfer are acceptable forms of payment.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at this vehicle. Please ask any questions you would like and we will respond as quickly as we can. Please also feel free to email us to schedule a time to view the vehicle prior to bidding. Thank again, and good luck!!

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
