Up for sale are my twin Quad 442 Cutlass Calais W-40's. They are getting really hard to find in decent condition!

I have a collection of cars and have to make some room, and unfortunately these have to go.

The auction is for both cars!

1990 Olds Cutlass Calais Quad 442 W40, 2.3 H.O. LGO 180hp engine, 5speed 3.61 gear ratio transaxle,ac, runs and drives great, 141k miles, it has been upgraded with an LS1 throttle body, has air shocks in the back to prevent squatting when taking off at the track, has Mickey Thompson Drag radials in the front, otherwise all original. It's a fun car to drive, I did 15.1 @ 90 mph at ATCO raceway, that was pretty fast in 1990 for a 4cylinder car! In the pics you will see a nitrous system, but I never installed the bottle or used it, and it is NOT included in the auction. It will be removed before the sale.

I am including a brand new never used 3.94 transaxle that I bought new on Ebay for the 1990 to give it the same ratio at the W-41's came with and hopefully get it into the 14's with just better gearing.

You can drive this car anywhere and have a lot of fun doing it!

The second car is a 1991 Cutlass Calais Quad 442 W-40, it is identical to the 1990 but has a factory sunroof. It has 191k miles, it runs and drives but has low oil pressure when it warms up. I bought it for spare parts but it is too nice to take apart. The side pieces for the rear spoiler are in the trunk.

Both cars have good clutches and have some minor rust on the lower deck lids and lower rear quarter panels that every single Calais I have seen has had or develops.

The paint on both cars is original, still mostly shiny, there are minor dings, dents that should be expected of car's of this vintage, the paint on the bumpers is faded in some spots but overall these cars still attract a hell of a lot of attention and are true survivors!

They are not W-41's but are not priced like a W-41 either and you can add the W-41 stuff like chip, IDI cover, and cams, most of that stuff is still available. You can go to "quad4forums"  dot com for info on these rare cars.

I owned a body shop and do body work and it is not a big deal to cut out a small section and replace/touch up, the rust is very minor.

Both have clean titles in my business name, I have had these cars for a few years and I am very reluctant to sell them but don't have the space to keep them inside.

Please email me any and all questions before bidding, I would like this transaction to go as smooth as possible, my feedback is perfect and would like to keep it that way.

I prefer to communicate via email only, so I can reply to the question and post it for everyone to see just in case they want to ask the same question.

The cars are available to see at my used car lot in Philly, PA 19125, I am open Thursday,Friday,Saturday 10am-5pm only.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is due immediately after the auction and the balance due in cash at time of pickup. I will allow 7 days to pick up the vehicles unless we come to a different agreement. I am a licenced PA dealer and sell auto tags if you want to pick up the car and drive it home.

The 1991 will have to be towed, I don't trust the oil pump or encourage driving it once it gets hot, it will ruin the engine.

I have a flat bed and can tow both cars if you like for a reasonable fee if you are not too far away. (50 mile radius)

I am not interested in any trades, and they are not available separate. If they don't sell I will just hold on to them.

Thanks for looking! Check out my other auction for a 1972 Opel GT with 49k miles I am selling also.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
