ENGINE, 400 TRANSMISSION, FACTORY DISC BRAKES AND SPECIAL ORDER PAINT OF ORANGE WITH WHITE INTERIOR, FACTORY A/C CAR( NOT HOOKED UP ) BOXED REAR CONTROL ARMS AND REAR SWAY BAR.  I HAVE THE ORIG BOOKS, WARRANTY BOOKLET SHOWING A PURCHASE FROM 3/28/1969 FROM NATZEL OLDSMOBILE OF PASADENA CALIFORNIA.  I DO NOT HAVE THE ORIG. BUILD SHEET BUT THE CAR IS A REAL 69 442 WITH THE RIGHT 34487 VIN.

I DECIDED TO ROLL THE DICE AND RUN THIS AS A NO RESERVE AUCTION, ITS BID TO BUY NOT NEGOTIATE AFTER THE FACT......PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

Same owners since 1983, Title shows 106,677 miles at time of purchase in '83  only 3,000 miles driven in the last 30 years!

I HAVE JUST PUT NEW DUAL EXHAUST WITH FLOW MASTER MUFFLERS, GREAT SOUND BUT NOT LOUD AT ALL, INSTALLED NEW CALIPERS, DISCS, PADS AND BRAKE LINES, TUNE UP AS WELL, NEW FUEL PUMP ALSO.  BASICALLY I HAVE MADE THE CAR TO BE A DAILY DRIVER.

THE ENGINE RUNS FANTASTIC, NO SMOKE, NOISES ETC, SHE IS A GREAT CRUISER, YOU CAN FIRE HER UP AND JUST GO DRIVE DOWN TO THE LOCAL HANGOUT!!

THERE ARE PLENTY OF FLAWS, THE PAINT IS OLD, THERE IS SOME RUST HERE AND THERE, FEW OIL DRIPS HERE AND THERE, DINGS AND DENTS AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS, ALL SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO IS SPEND SOME $$ THE RIGHT WAY TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

KEEP IN MIND, THERE ARE ALWAYS CLONES AND TRIBUTE CARS OUT THERE IN BETTER SHAPE....BUT THIS CAR IS THE REAL DEAL AND WORTH SINKING SOME $$ INTO.

I HAVE EXTRA PARTS TO INCLUDE NEW 442 EMBLEMS, FENDER EYE BROWS, NOS LOWER PATCH PANEL FOR THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER, AS WELL AS MOST OF THE A/C COMPONENTS.

THE FRAME IS SOLID, FLOORS ARE SOLID, AND TRUNK IS SOLID, LIGHT RUST SCLAING UNDER THE CAR FROM SITTING AND I DID NOT DO THE TELL TALE WIRE BRUSH AND UNDERCOAT, THE CAR IS ALL ORIG. METAL UNDERNEATH.  IT HAS HAD BODY WORK IN THE PAST IN THE QAURTER PANELS AND LOWER FENDERS, ALL THIS CAN BE REPAIRED AGAIN, NOW YOU CAN BUY NEW METAL FOR 68/69 OLDS WHERE BEFORE IT WAS ONLY 70-72.

THIS IS IN NO WAY A CREAM PUFF, ITS A 20 FOOTER AND LOOKS GREAT FROM THERE, THE CAR HAS GREAT POTENTIAL AND I HOPE SOMEONE TAKES IT FROM HERE WHERE I AM UNABLE TO DO AT THIS TIME, IM NOT LOOKING TO MAKE $$ ON THE CAR BUT WILL KEEP IT RATHER THAN LOSE BIG $$.

PLEASE CALL ME OR EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS, BIDDING IS A CONTRACT TO BUY NOT TO NEGOTIATE AFTER AND PLEASE HAVE FUNDS TO BUY BEFORE BIDDING.

IM A VERY REASONABLE PERSON, BEEN A POLICEMAN FOR 21 YEARS NOW SO I PRIDE MYSELF ON BEING HONEST. 703 927 0993 IS MY DIRECT CELL.

PLEASE AGAIN ASK ALL QUESTIONS AHEAD OF TIME, IM SURE I HAVE FORGOT TO MENTION SOMETHING, I HAVE A TON MORE PICTURES BUT JUST CANT LOAD ALL OF THEM.

MAKE NOTE I AM NOT THE ONE THAT PAINTED THE ENGINE THE 69 HURST OLDS RED INSTEAD OF BRONZE SO PLEASE DONT YELL AT ME.....A HAVE HAD A 69 HURST OLDS AS WELL AS ABOUT 50 442'S OVER THE YEARS ;-)

This Or That: 1980 Oldsmobile 442 vs. 1989 BMW 635CSi [w/poll]

Thu, 09 Oct 2014

The last time I roped a coworker into an automotive debate, I lost. Resoundingly, I might add. Still, 2,385 voters chose to cast their lots for the Fiat 500 Abarth, as opposed to 5,273 choosing the Ford Fiesta ST, and so I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least 30 percent of you, dear readers, see things my way. I still like to think we have more fun, too.
My loss in the first round of our This or That series, in which two Autoblog editors pick sides on any given topic and then attempt to explain why the other is completely wrong, didn't stop me from picking another good-natured fight, this time with Senior Editor Seyth Miersma. Last time, our chosen sides were eerily similar in design, albeit quite different in actual execution. This time, our vehicular peculiarities couldn't seemingly fall any further from one another: A 1980 Oldsmobile 442 wouldn't seem to match up in comparison to a 1989 BMW 635CSi.
How did we come up with such disparate contenders? Simple, really. Seyth and I mutually agreed to choose a car that's currently for sale online. It had to be built and sold in the 1980s, and it had to be a coupe. The price cap was set at $10,000. The fruits of our searching labors will henceforth be disputed, with Seyth on the side of the Germans, and myself arguing in favor of the Rocket Olds. Am I setting myself up for another lopsided loss?

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
