This 2001 Pathfinder is in good condition.  There are some cosmetic issues but other than that it runs fabulously.  The plugs and coils have just been recently replaced as standard maintenance and the oil was also changed at the same time.  It was also serviced for a bad connection at one of the coil links.  I use regular gas.  I have maintained getting the oil changed regularly and the tires were bought at the end of last summer.  They have at least 40,000 more miles on them.  I live in a state that uses sand, not salt, for de-icing the roadways, so rusting is not an issue.  The 4WD has 3 options either all wheel drive or 4 wheel lock (high or low).  This is a shift on the fly option and no need to get out and lock the hub caps.  We also put in an after market stereo and it is wired for an amp and subwoofer in the back.  There is a variable base nob that you can connect to your subwoofer.  This also has the stock Bose speakers which sound amazing with the amp and subwoofer.  When we bought the car it had 1 remote for the keyless entry and 1 key.  The keyless entry also has a button for auto start, which is very nice when there is snow on the ground.

Club to restore amazeballs Datsun Safari Rally Z

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

Thanks to the Nissan Restoration Club, a legendary rally car is coming back to life. At the recent Nissan 360 media event, the Japanese automaker announced that its restoration club is bringing the Safari Rally Z back to original running condition. A variant of the Fairlady Z (or Datsun 240Z in the US), the Safari Rally Z has a fastback coupe body and a 215-horsepower inline-six engine. It won East African Safari Rally championships in both 1971 and 1973. The restoration is scheduled for completion this December.
Formed in 2006, Nissan's Restoration Club is comprised of 60 volunteer members who are passionate about Nissan's historic racecars. The club's past restoration projects include the 1964 Skyline racecar and 1947 Tama electric vehicle. Read the press release below for all the details on the latest restoration, and check out the gallery for photos of the Safari Rally Z as well as the 1972 Fairlady 240Z.

Watch Nissan's autonomous Leaf in action

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

Getting its semi-autonomous Leaf legalized in Japan was just the first step. Now, Nissan is giving demonstrations of what its fully autonomous car is capable of at this year's Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) show - Japan's equivalent to America's Consumer Electronics Show. To show off the possibilities of its technologies, Nissan had an oval track set up at the show giving rides in an autonomous Leaf to the media. Even Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and Toyota CEO Akio Toyodo caught a ride.
Nissan has since released a couple videos of its CEATEC demos, with one designed to look like a news report. In this video, you can watch the car go around the track and navigate intersections and road hazards. The second video shows Ghosn riding in the car, and he hints that Nissan's goal of having an autonomous vehicle in production by 2020 might be more of a worst-case scenario. Watch both videos and read through Nissan's official press release below.
