Nissan Skyline Gtr R34 From "2 Fast 2 Furious" Movie on 2040-cars
Spokane, Washington, United States
Nissan Skyline GTR R34 from "2 Fast 2 Furious" movie.
Yes! This is in fact the actual car used in the making of the movie "2 Fast 2 Furious" (the second movie in the "Fast and the Furious" movie franchise). This is the very same car used to film the scene where Paul Walker jumps over law enforcement agents on the bridge. This car was known to Universal Pictures as "Car # 25". When this car was jumped, the wing broke off upon landing, which is why it is not on the car now. There were a total of 4 of these same looking cars used in the making of "2 Fast 2 Furious", all of which looked like the identical car on camera. Only this car was used for the famous bridge jump. This car has many fabrications and safety modifications all done by a team at Universal Pictures to meet insurance specification to make the jump scene as safe as possible for the stunt driver. Everything has been kept original as it came from Universal Pictures, with one exception: the company that created the sticker decals for the cars in the movie owned the copyrights to the designs, so the stickers were removed after the movie was made. The owner of this car paid to have a representative from this company fly up to Spokane and re-apply the decals on the car just as they were for the movie. The seller has owned this car for the last 9 years. The car has not been driven other than to reposition parking. The car has sat on a showroom floor/in storage at a business in Spokane Washington as an attraction. When transported it has always been trailered. The seller intends on making a contribution to Paul Walker's charity "Reach Out WorldWide" upon the sale of this vehicle. Here are the base specs of the car itself - Year- 1999 Motor- 2.6L RB26DETT I6 Twin Turbo Transmission- 6 speed manual, All-Wheel-Drive Right side driven Runs and drives great. This car may not be legal to drive/own in all countries or jurisdictions. Buyer is responsible for knowing their local laws. |

Renault-Nissan reportedly partnering with Waymo on self-driving cars
Tue, Feb 5 2019The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance will tie up with Alphabet Inc's Waymo to develop autonomous taxis and other services using self-driving vehicles, the Nikkei reported on Tuesday. Google's self-driving car company Waymo will work with the carmakers and announce a plan for the arrangement as early as this spring, the business daily reported. The partners are considering the joint development of unmanned taxis using Nissan vehicles and a system that handles reservation and payments, Nikkei said. A spokesman at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, Nick Twork, said, "This (Nikkei) story is based on rumors and speculation. We have nothing to announce." Waymo did not immediately reply to a request for comment. Last month, Nissan Motor Corp said its board remained committed to the carmaker's alliance with Renault SA and Mitsubishi Motors Corp, after directors met to discuss the ongoing investigation into former chairman Carlos Ghosn and ways to bolster governance. Among the companies developing autonomous driving technology, Waymo is considered to be far in the lead in terms of test-fleet miles driven. It operates hundreds of vehicles in 25 U.S. locations, and is already operating a taxi service with paying customers in Chandler, Ariz. Related Video:
Can a car be lifted using rubber bands?
Sat, 19 Jan 2013It's quite amazing what it takes to lift a car. We already know the feat can be accomplished using just a pair of phone books, but what about rubber bands? To the Internet! A video series appropriately titled "Will It Lift" attempted to find out by using a massive crane and a Nissan Micra weighing less than 1,800 pounds.
Doing a little math, the trio determined that it would take 180 rubber bands to support the car. A metal bar was placed through the window openings and another was place atop the car, and then attached together using the rubber bands and hooked to the crane. Now these aren't any special rubber bands or anything. They're just eight-millimeters thick, but the stunt is testing the rubber bands' power in numbers.
We're not going to spoil it for you, so scroll down to check out the video of the stunt.
Mitsubishi off-road Delica van, outdoorsy Outlander variant planned for US market
Thu, May 16 2024If you haven't been paying attention, you may be surprised to hear that Mitsubishi has been doing fairly well in the United States over the last several years. Once a mid-major (to borrow a college athletics term) program here in the States, the automaker's stagnating lineup and lack of vehicles with clear desirability — once you got past the hardcore Lancer Evolution series, at least — led to declining sales figures through the 2000s. The brand's more recent resurgence, led by the latest Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV, which it co-developed with fellow Japanese partner Nissan, first began around the year 2018, says Mitsubishi North America President and CEO Mark Chaffin. "Momentum 2030 will build on that, setting the stage for new powertrains and vehicles being introduced, new dealerships being opened, and new technologies being developed to make the shopping and ownership experience faster, easier and more enjoyable." "New powertrains and new vehicles" are always keywords that pique the ears of automotive enthusiasts, and Mitsubishi seemingly has some solid stepping stones in the works to continue gaining momentum in the crucial American market, with trucks, crossovers and multi-purpose vehicles that could offer some truly interesting entries into segments the automaker hasn't dipped its toes in decades. One particular potential vehicle of interest is, oddly enough, a passenger van, which appears to be shown in the middle of the line-up preview photo below. But we're not talking about a run-of-the-mill minivan. According to dealership employees present at Mitsubishi's Momentum 2030 program cited by Automotive News, the van would take inspiration from the D:X Concept that we openly loved after its introduction in Tokyo last year. The van would reportedly maintain its rugged credentials — perfect for the growing number of Americans who embrace off-road lifestyles like camping and overlanding — and feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. We can't imagine some of the concept's far-out features like a front glass panel to see the ground ahead or a dashboard and steering wheel setup that moves with the driver's door making it into production. The three-row, six-passenger seating arrangement and true off-road tuning on the other hand are likely items for the final product.
