Damaged front bumper, missing air intake cover. Dented front upper frame, and dented hood.Interior: Broken driver's side seat.Additional: Broken Antenna."

My Promise: When I originally got this car I got ripped off by a used car dealership. The engine had major oil leaks and broke down within a year. I won't lie or deceive anyone about the condition of the car. That being said, I wouldn't recommend this car to anyone that doesn't know about cars (i.e. this shouldn't be your first car). It's a beautiful car that must be worked on. You should be comfortable with more than just brake changes and tune ups. I can provide you via email a copy of the car manual if you don't have it yet.

Important information: The car did not pass smog test. A friend that studied mechanics performed a compression test on all six cylinders and determined that one of the the cylinders had low compression. Everything else works well. Good thread and quality tires. Good maintenance given to car. K&N Filters, new spark plugs, etc. Changed the front rotors and all brake pads 2 years ago.

Engine: The original engine was replaced at 189,000 miles for an imported engine. The timing belt, front and rear crankshaft seals were replaced. The old intake manifold was used (new gasket used of course) to comply with US smog specs. The clutch disk was also replaced.  The battery is also relatively new and the lower clutch cylinder was replaced because it was leaking.

Interior: Usual wear and tear but the driver's side seat tilts a little too much (the frame is broken. I took it to get it welded but they said they couldn't do it due to the location of the break). There is a tear on the driver's side door plastic. There is also significant wear on the shift stick cover and the steering wheel. The cloth seats have no tears.

About the exterior:The car has a damaged front bumper that will need replacement. The cover protecting the dual air intake is missing. The hood has some dents. The front part of the frame of the car some damage from when I hit a truck at 15 miles an hour. The truck had no scratches, but the Z needed the front sustained damage to front frame (showed in pictures). Besides that the rest of the car has scratches here and there but no major damage. The radio antenna is broken (dumb carwash!).

Reason for selling: My new job is 50+ miles away, I need an economy car or a Tesla.

The best thing about this car: I've never raced but I did once on my younger days take this car at 140+ without a problem. At 222 hp and 198 ft lb of torque it has the power to accelerate quickly and go through hills without a problem. The tires and hard suspension means you can go 80+ and have good solid control (unlike the tiny honda I drive now). It also features 4 wheel disc brakes and an advanced coil ignition for its time.

The worst about this car: The car has a lot of small tubes (vacuum) that will make it hard to put back together if you remove the intake manifold.

Pricing: Keep in mind that on KBB.com the "Fair" condition is $3620 and the "Good" condition is $4320. It would be fair to say that this car falls somewhere in between.

Nissan had to re-edit this commercial two times to placate Aussie ad watchdog [w/poll]

Fri, 02 Aug 2013

Nissan recently aired a commercial in Australia for its Pulsar SSS hatchback - think of it as a five-door relative of our Sentra - in which a couple is seen hastily making their way to the hospital ahead of giving birth. But the ad you can watch now isn't the same ad that aired originally - in fact, Nissan had to re-edit the commercial twice before the Australian Advertising Standards Bureau (ASB) would accept it.
According to Go Auto, the original ad received complaints that it depicted unsafe and reckless driving, including speeding, following cars too closely and screeching to a halt upon arriving at the hospital. One of the complaints reportedly read: "The advertisement promotes driving behavior (rapid acceleration/deceleration/changes of direction) that is counter to sound medical advice regarding the carriage of heavily pregnant women in motor vehicles."
In the first edit, Nissan lowered the vehicle's engine noise, removed the woman's speech urging the man to drive faster ("Go, go, go!") and inserted a disclaimer that read "Filmed under controlled conditions," according to Go Auto, but all of that still wasn't enough to appease the ASB.

Nissan NV200 finds new work as ambulance, Gibson guitar repair truck

Thu, 28 Mar 2013

We live in a world now where not every police cruiser and taxi is a Ford Crown Victoria, not every executive car is a Lincoln Town Car and not every ambulance is based on a Ford Econoline van. Vehicles like the new Nissan NV200 are making inroads into the service, livery and emergency vehicle markets, and we've got a couple cases in point to share.
The first one is a fleet of 30 new ambulances based on the heavier-duty NV2500 chassis. They are entering the Mexican Red Cross fleet of emergency vehicles this year after performing well in pilot tests last year. The Mexican Red Cross says it receives 1,200,000 ambulance service requests per year, so the mettle of these new machines will be tested in a hurry.
The second example is less useful for life-saving, but may save a guitar from going to the scrap heap. Called the Gibson NV200 Mobile Repair & Restoration Van, it can take the services of an authorized Gibson rep anywhere they're needed to repair or restore an axe in need. The van features a whole aesthetic designed to evoke the classic Gibson look, with wood veneer and shades of brown and black used throughout. There's a guitar rack that holds four instruments, a sliding 56-inch long repair table, toolbox, genuine Gibson stools and a sound system by Gibson Pro Audio.

Watch Nissan's autonomous Leaf in action

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

Getting its semi-autonomous Leaf legalized in Japan was just the first step. Now, Nissan is giving demonstrations of what its fully autonomous car is capable of at this year's Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies (CEATEC) show - Japan's equivalent to America's Consumer Electronics Show. To show off the possibilities of its technologies, Nissan had an oval track set up at the show giving rides in an autonomous Leaf to the media. Even Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn and Toyota CEO Akio Toyodo caught a ride.
Nissan has since released a couple videos of its CEATEC demos, with one designed to look like a news report. In this video, you can watch the car go around the track and navigate intersections and road hazards. The second video shows Ghosn riding in the car, and he hints that Nissan's goal of having an autonomous vehicle in production by 2020 might be more of a worst-case scenario. Watch both videos and read through Nissan's official press release below.
