The word RARE is way overused in the automobile re-sale market. To the point, it's almost rare not to see the word. This car was imported by Mitsubishi from 83-89. Only 10,655 produced in 1988. (all markets, all models) In 1987-89 they came to the US with the wide body (AKA fatty / flared fenders) and inter-cooled turbo. The 2.6L IC turbo engine produced 197 HP. with 220 lb ft of torque in a 2,700 lb car. An automatic transmission was not common in this car either.  This is a true survivor. I bought this from a friend of mine 4 years ago. It was sitting in her garage. (51 year old woman) in S. Arizona. She bought it new in Florida and moved it out here many years ago. It has the original Leather interior still in great shape. Everything is stock!!!! Radio and all. No cuts or holes or cracks in the dash or anywhere. The exterior is all original including the wheels and paint. The front spoiler has a break in it,(see pic) from a parking curb.  The only other visual issue is a few drops of battery fluid dropped on the left hid-a-way head light, otherwise in good shape. No dents no scratches. Now we might be approaching rare. If you don’t think so, try to find one on ebay or autotrader for sale!! Anywhere, Any year, any transmission, any condition.   The Transmission was rebuilt a few years ago, but has very few miles since. shifts very positive. The tires look new but are 5 or 6 years old. I've been driving it back and forth to work (9 miles one way) and makes a great commuter and decent mileage. No suspension parts have ever been changed but it still drives tight. Could probably use some shocks/struts and new tires for a better ride and fun factor. (rides like it has 25 year old shocks and bushings and 10 your old tires) is a little harsh right now) Engine starts easy, runs great and when the boost kicks in, it pulls great. Mitsubishi Starion has a race car pedigree. (SEE Wikipedia for more info) This car has independent rear suspension with rear wheel drive and 4 wheel disc brakes. Came factory with 205/55 - 16 tires on the front and 225/50 - 16 on the rear. This would make a great auto cross car and were popular as a tuners. The heater works good but the indication lights in the dash are intermittent.  If you have any questions please ask before bidding.

On Jan-30-14 at 14:51:56 PST, seller added the following information:

The car is equipped with Air Conditioning. All the parts are in tact but clutch doesn't engage when turned on. Will require some work.

Mitsubishi's all-electric Pikes Peak challengers are in it to win it

Sun, 30 Jun 2013

With a second-place finish already in the books from 2012, there's only one thing on the minds of Mitsubishi drivers Hiroshi Masuoka and Greg Tracy: winning. As the presenting sponsor for the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, there's no doubt the Japanese manufacturer is hoping for a good showing this year, and the video you'll see below explains how Mitsubishi changed things this year to help ensure a win... basically, more power and more downforce.
Winning in 2013 certainly won't be easy. With competitors that include Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima and Rod Millen, who's driving for Toyota, winners in 2012 in the Electric class. Our own Jonathon Ramsey sat down and spoke with the boys from Mitsubishi, and found that, if not for the over-the-top presence from Peugeot, the the all-electric MiEV Evolution II (which may be a sort of test-bed for potential Lancer Evolution-of-the-future components) may even be capable of challenging for the overall victory.
Their target: nine minutes and thirty seconds. We'll see how close they get later this afternoon. Scroll down below to watch the video.

Mitsubishi to debut Concept G4 sedan in Bangkok

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

With the Bangkok Motor Show coming up at the end of this month, Mitsubishi is giving us a teaser of a new concept vehicle called the Concept G4. Standing for "Global 4-door," the G4 shows what Mitsubishi has planned for its global compact sedan, which is known as the Mitsubishi Lancer in most parts of the world.
This single sketch doesn't provide too many details about the new concept, but we can see cues like the oversized headlights, a six-sided grille, vertical foglight bezels and sharp body lines. From what we can tell of the teaser, Mitsubishi might be moving away from the in-your-face, gaping-grille design introduced on the current Lancer, but we're also getting a lot of Kia and Nissan vibes. This will be Mitsubishi's third concept vehicle to debut this month following the Concept CA-MiEV and Concept GR-HEV we saw in Geneva.
In a press release posted below, Mitsubishi says that this car will be powered by a 1.2-liter MIVEC engine paired to a continuously variable transmission, and that many aspects of the car's development will help reduce weight.

Say Hello to the Kitty edition Mitsubishi Mirage

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

Japan is the country that gave us the GT-R, the LFA and the STI. But it's also the home of Hello Kitty. We try our best to ignore the commonality, but now Mitsubishi is putting it right in our faces with the new Hello Kitty edition Mirage.
Decked out in pink, the special Mirage arrives on the occasion of the character's 40th anniversary. It comes decked out with Hello Kitty decals on the outside, special hubcaps and unique upholstery. It's even got a Hello Kitty pillow inside, for crying out loud.
Fortunately, only 400 examples will be made, hopefully only for domestic consumption, wearing a sticker price of 116,970 yen (equivalent to about $12k). Now we wish we could say this was a first, but sadly it's not - not even for Mitsubishi.
