1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gsx Hatchback 2-door 2.0l Very Rare Powerful Low Miles on 2040-cars
Englewood, Ohio, United States
Thank you for taking the time to look at my auction. This is a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX with 69,381 ORIGINAL miles. It has always been well maintained, oil changed every 2,000 miles with fully synthetic oil. I believe I am the 2nd owner, having owned this car since around 2005. It has an upgraded turbo, fuel pump, internals and honestly too many things to list. Over the years and through many moves I have lost most of my paperwork on it, so I can't really list what all have been done anymore. Recently I had about $2,000 worth of work done just to ensure everything was tip-top. Ball joints, stage 2 clutch, flywheel, brakes and so on. This car is not perfect by any means. It runs almost flawlessly, it is a beast. It pushes roughly 400 HP (never dynoed) at 19 pounds of boost.
I really don't want to sell it, mostly because this is the rarest of the Eclipses ever made. There were very few GSX models made in 99 with black on black, and only about half of those were manual. This car is very fun to drive, and extremely fast. I am only selling it because I simply do not drive it enough. The most I have ever driven it in one year is about 1,000 miles, which is just not enough for a car like this. It currently sits in a garage undriven. It does not come with a radio, but all the wiring is present. You can see from the pictures all the gauges, however boost is the only functioning one currently. The EGT and APEXi both work along with the push button start. The headliner is coming off, and there is a stain on the passenger mat, which are the only real interior flaws. Any reasonable offers would be considered. |

Mitsubishi planning three all-new concepts for Tokyo show
Tue, 08 Oct 2013Even with new models like the 2014 Outlander and Mirage in its stable, Mitsubishi could sure use a little excitement injected into its lineup. Fortunately, it looks like a trio of concepts headed to the Tokyo Motor Show could finally help spark some enthusiasm for the troubled automaker.
All we have to go on right now is a pair of teaser images for the three concepts, but it does reveal a possible new design language for Mitsubishi. The Concept GC-PHEV (shown above) is a fullsize, plug-in utility vehicle, and it could very well be a harbinger of the Montero/Pajero replacement that we heard about earlier this year. Mitsubishi will also unveil a compact plug-in crossover called the Concept XR-PHEV designed to look like a "sport coupe" as well as the Concept AR compact MPV, which will utilize a small-displacement, turbocharged engine.
There is still no word on the next-gen Lancer, Galant or subcompact sedan mentioned in recent reports, but the announcement below does show promise for Mitsubishi's lineup of plug-in cars.
2014 Mitsubishi Mirage
Tue, 07 Jan 2014This could have been something great. Last fall, Mitsubishi slapped its triple-diamond badge on a dainty little hatchback called Mirage, offering plenty of functionality and 44 miles per gallon on the highway, all starting at a super-low $12,995. For budget shoppers, this seemed to be a good thing - not to mention a much-needed breath of fresh air for the company's waning US automotive arm.
I will fully admit to being a bit harsh on the Mirage following its debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show, often making it the butt of jokes with my colleagues. But at the end of the day, I love cheap, basic, honest little cars like this, and I wasn't prepared to write off the Mirage until I spent some time behind the wheel. After all, on paper, a Mazda2 looks pretty unremarkable, and yet it's one of my favorite small cars to drive.
Much as I wasn't looking forward to putting my foot in my mouth, I was sort of hoping to feel the same way about the new Mirage. It's a bland package, but it could have been filled with the same spunky spirit and well-meaning composure of vehicles like the aforementioned Mazda, or even stuff like the Honda Fit or Chevy Spark and Sonic.
Mitsubishi AR Concept continues a wacky, wonderful tradition [w/video]
Thu, 21 Nov 2013Mitsubishi enjoys a long history of thinking outside the literal box when it comes to designing minivans and people movers. Remember the Mitsubishi Van, a.k.a. Delica? How about the Chariot, better known to us as the Colt Vista? The Expo and Expo LRV, the twin models that succeeded it? These were all left-of-center takes on the MPV genre, and while they never sold in large volumes, we can't help but look back at them with a mix of bemusement and respect for their oddball character. Who knows? A production version of this AR Concept could be next.
According to Mitsubishi, "the comfort of a minivan and active personality of an SUV are merged at the highest levels" in the Concept AR. Us? We just think this mild hybrid concept looks kind of neat, even if it's just putting on off-road airs with its elevated ride hight, faux skid plates and black-lipped wheel wells.
Hardware-wise, this Active Runabout is less showcar and more 'real world,' with the front wheels drawing their power from a 134-horsepower, 1.1-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with a 10-kW electric motor used as a belt starter generator (read: mild hybrid). A continuously variable transmission handles shifting duties.
